The Proof Is In The Fruit

How long will God wait on the American church to return to Him? God is sovereign and He must be Lord of all or He is not Lord at all.

Jesus Christ gave the church the birthed specific instruction. Math 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples.” What , as churches, do we not understand about that command? Without the transforming power of change that only comes thru true discipleship, the churches just become social gatherings of people with common interests. They want to be religious but not transformed. They become dabblers not disciples.

I believe the day is coming when people will be made to say what Ezekiel forecast, “they will know that I am the Lord.” Ezekiel 39:6.

Everything we hear today in preaching, books, religious TV, and etc, is about what man is and his happiness and prosperity. The churches are falling into the trap of the devil by elevating man and humanizing God. This will have a destructive affect on the future church and future generations.

The question is: Are we willing to put our complete trust in God’s sovereignty? Are we willing to submit to God’s Word and His authority? Are we, the church, willing to surrender the church to God?

These are hard questions that need some answers. The Holy Spirit is the power of God, not technology. The Word of God is still sharper than a two edged sword. Ask yourself this question; is God alive and well in your life? Are you growing spiritually and serving a living God? Name one great thing you have seen God do in the last year.

These are gut wrenching questions that I believe the great preacher Paul would ask us today. The church must maintain higher standards then the world. We will never influence a lost and dying world until they see the super natural in the Christians.

I think Paul’s advice to young Timothy is good advice for the church today:

2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the Word: be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their eyes away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of the ministry.”

Jesus said, “Ye shall know them by their fruit.” The church must always ask and keep asking what kind of fruit are we producing? It’s God’s desire to bless His church. But, the key is that it must be His church not man’s.

Think on these things. Are you a true disciple of Jesus Christ? Are you producing other disciples or just dabbling?

See ya in church
