America the beautiful has become America the ugly. Stanley wrote in his book, "Darkest Africa". What about America? Could we say "Darkest America?"
Yes, darkness has overtaken America. We are surrounded and overcome with darkness; the darkness of evil, the darkness of sin, the darkness of corruption, etc. The darkness is the curse of America.
The world is satisfied with darkness as long as there is money, food, and luxuries. The world of darkness gives no thought to the future of man's soul. We have been influenced by the benefits of darkness, but the consequences are beyond our imagination.
Our prisons are full of the fruit of darkness. Our homes are raided by the fruit of darkness. Our youth are victims of the power of darkness. Our government is corrupted by the fruit of darkness.
When the light went out in America, darkness took over. God became illegal in public places. God was removed from our schools. The name of God became a curse word to the world of darkness. America as a nation, made a bad choice that will have terrible consequences.
Darkness is always used in a bad sense. Jesus said, "But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If, then, the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!" Math 6:23
John 3:19 This is the verdict. Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light, because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear his deeds will be exposed."
Not only is the darkness a curse on America, but the church refuses to speak out about the darkness. The church has diluted the purity, cluttered up the simplicity, overlooked the obvious, and we major in minors. Yes, the darkness has put blight on the church in America.
Our social ills will only be cured by one thing. The remedy is the light, who is Jesus Christ. The gospel message is the only message of hope. It was like this in both the Old Testament and the New Testament times. The people where religious, but far from the true God. The priest and false prophets continued to tell the people what they wanted to hear, not what they needed to hear. And, we know from history what became of these people. They had to suffer severe hardships and even slavery before they repented.
Yes, the day in America is dark and becoming even darker. The price of sin and evil is too high a price to pay for even America. Ignorance will be no excuse. We have no one to blame but ourselves. The gospel is not strange to us; we have heard the truth. With no fear of God and no fear of the consequences of disobedience, God will have no choice but to allow us to self-destruct.
Hitler rose to power in Germany and most of the churches remained silent. Look what happened. We can no longer be silent. Our message must be, "repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."
Seek the Lord while He can be found, call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord and He will have mercy on him, and to our God for He will freely pardon. Isaiah 55:6-7
The Lord does not want nations to fail or people to perish. But, it's up to us to obey and preach the truth.
See ya in church
