The first century church had one thing in common; A Growing Passion To Reproduce. This they did through evangelism and discipleship. Their goal was not just to evangelize, but to make disciples.
The American churches have lost this passion. We are all for church growth and wonderful, moving, worship services. And, we need wonderful, moving, worship services. Through them we bring glory to God and are motivated to be loyal to Him.
But, the churches' real mission is still to save lost souls. And, to teach them, grow them, and equip them to reproduce. Without reproduction the church becomes stagnant and will die. America has hundreds of churches but they have terminal diseases.
How could this happen to us as Christians who believe the truth? It has been very subtle over the years. The messages become messages only about our needs. How to be better Christians. How to be better parents. How to be good stewards; and build and pay for big buildings. And, all of this is not bad. In fact, it is good.
However, that is not our mission. Our mission is to seek and save the lost. To go into the whole world and spread the good news which is "Jesus saves, Jesus saves." In fact, by becoming ingrown, we build temples to ourselves. We have lost the joy of new birth, and replaced it with our quest for power and prestige. We build up ourselves and our churches but refuse to reach out to a lost and dying world. We have great programs but little reproduction. We have preaching but not preaching that penetrates the heart. We are not convicted of our lack of desire for evangelism, nor do we see our short comings.
It's my prayer that God convicts us of our missing the mark of true evangelism and discipleship. I pray the Holy Spirit will raise up men and women with conviction and power of the Word to bring change to our American churches.
We use to have a saying; "Keep the main thing the main thing." Have we forgotten the main thing? Our mission is the main thing. Busy work is not always God's work. Jesus said that He that came to do the will of the Father. John 6:38. Our mission is to do the same.''
Jesus also taught; "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:40
For the church to really be the church that is going to please God and really do the true mission, some changes must come. But, before change there must be the conviction to seek God's will in this matter. Then we, the church, will get back on track and evangelize and disciple as God wants us to.

Why do people lose their joy? Why do people lose their way in this world? Why do people who were very productive and happy in our society just give up or quit trying?
People like this are everywhere, in every town and in every city. They are not necessarily old people. They are people of all ages that have just given up on life. They may be your neighbor or relatives. They are all around you.
Life can be cruel and hard for some people. For others it seems they never have hard times. The pain of discouragement may come from failed marriages or a failed business, or a sickness or disease. But, productive people do become unproductive for a reason. Something has gone wrong.
The sad thing is that these people did have talents that are not being used now. They may have been craftsman and professional people. They may have been leaders and teachers of others, but today they just exist and are in a survival mode. And, what is so bad is that they are wasting their lives away.
With all of this said, the truth is that people lost their purpose to love and be productive. When purpose is gone the will to produce is gone. Then, discouragement sets in and it's downhill from there. Most of the time there is a major event that causes the loss of purpose. It is the death of a husband or wife, a divorce, or a crisis of major proportion in the family. When the joy is gone that has to do with a person's purpose, they just give up.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening in our lives? Yes, but it takes planning and preparation long before it happens. It takes determination and discipline to keep us from falling apart.
The real preparation for life's problems or crisis that will come, is to have a faith and trust in God. We cannot rely on the flesh because the flesh will deceive us.
Our main purpose in life is not just to work and make money. Although that is a part of life, it must not be our only motive to live. We have families to love and in turn, be loved, but they, too, are not eternal. We must understand that there is a time and a season for everything.
God is eternal and His love is one we will never lose. Our real purpose in life is to bring glory to God and to live as good stewards in this world. We bring glory to God through our families, our work, our churches, and all our relationships. This love and trust is our anchor for anything life can throw at us. Without an anchor, like a ship when the storms come, we drift off course.
It is too bad that so many people learn these truths so late in life after so much damage is done. This is why we preach the gospel to save people and equip them to bring glory to God not to the flesh. Show me a man or woman who understands who God is, who they are, and who has the right purpose, I will show you a happy, fulfilled person. Think on these things.

God sent His son on a rescue mission; a mission of hope and victory. However, the Jews rebelled against Jesus as they had always done against the prophets.
But Jesus knew His mission and continued in spite of Pharisees and leaders of the Jews. His mission was to them but not for them only. Jesus had compassion on the common people also. They were the ones who responded to His teachings the best.
It was God's mission and Jesus was the missionary. God knew these people had hard hearts and rebellious spirits. He still loved them. God knew they would kill Jesus, but He still sent Him into the battle for men's souls.
It is the soul of people that to God have great value yet are wasted by sinful lives. When people are full of pride and unteachable, the future is predictable. The sins of these fallen people have great consequences and sad endings. The flesh is never satisfied and rebellion is the destroyer Jesus came to battle.
Since the creation of man, his basic nature has remained the same. Cultures and times have changed. Technology and modern conveniences are always changing. But, people have remained the same. We are born the same way as Adam and Eve's children. We live and breathe and bleed the same way. We have a mind, soul, and spirit. We can love and hate, be at war or live in peace, but we are human beings. We drink water and eat food for the body to live. So, for man, life goes on.
The soul or the will of man also has needs. The will of man is where the real trouble comes in.
Man's will drives him by greed and pride. Man's will is needed to live, but, out of control, becomes man's greatest enemy.
When man's will surrenders to the will of God, the man becomes a different man. Greed is replaced with love and compassion. God's will teaches generosity and forgiveness. God's will teaches good moral standards for man to live by. Yes, when God's will becomes the guiding force in the mind and heart of man he becomes a new creation.
So God sent Jesus as a teacher and example of what God wanted man to do and be. He died to purchase our souls by His blood. The very blood the evil wicked men shed by the use of the cross became the blood of deliverance. The victory was God's, not man's.
The blood and the Word became the foundation of the church of Jesus Christ. He paid for it and He is the head of His Church. And because God sent Jesus to a hostile world, we have hope today.
The same message Jesus had from His father is still calling men and women back to God. The same message is delivering people from the churches of the devil. Praise God for His love and sending Jesus with a missionary message. Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand.

The world is not waiting on a new method or model to win the lost to Jesus Christ. The church needs to wake up and realize that souls are going to hell daily and we, the church, are asleep.
We do not need new programs, nor a new vision, but to go back and restore the methods Jesus taught His disciples.
Some questions needed to be asked and answered are:
Why are our churches not growing?
Why are Christians living defeated lives?
Why are converts still on the milk?
Why are young men not being called to preach?
Why are missions so unproductive?
Why are fewer and fewer people becoming missionaries?
Why are Bible colleges not preacher factories?
Why are preachers not preaching hell as much as heaven?
Why are Christian marriages failing so fast today?
Why are our churches not in unity instead of divided?
Unless these questions are asked of leadership first and answers searched for, things will never change. Without the churches coming under conviction and true repentance the fruit of conviction, things will never change.
We have become powerless, prayerless, and purposeless. Our hope is fading, our joy is gone, and the world is laughing at the Christian world. Without a "Nineveh Revival" all is lost. The muslins will win and Jesus will have died in vain.
1 Peter 4:17 "For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God".
I believe that after 2000 years the church has become slaves in our Egypt. We, like Jacob's family, went down to Egypt and was given the best land possible. But after 2000 years the darkness is overtaking us.
We need a Moses to deliver us, to lead us out, and to teach us all over again. To rebuild we must first tear down to the very foundation and start all over.
Many will rebel and die along the way. Many will rebuild their idols and be destroyed. But God will raise up a new generation who will love and obey Him.
We today, like the Pharisees Jesus dealt with, are arrogant and proud. We have become unteachable, unfaithful, unsubmissive, and technologically poor. Our knowledge is our god. Our money is our power, and our religion our down fall. Surely God cannot be pleased.
We must appeal to God to deliver us:
"If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land." 2 Chronicle 7:14.
This is our answer to our problem, not until we reestablish prayer, power, and purpose, will the church come alive and thrive. Think about these things and take action.

When God calls a person to come follow Him, the call comes through His Son Jesus Christ. The call is to come and see, and then come and follow. And to follow means that you die to self and become alive in Christ Jesus.
To the average Christian in America this just means join a church, and attend regularly. But to follow Jesus and answer the call is far, far more. He has called us to be witnesses and ambassadors for the Kingdom. We are to demonstrate the Christian walk in the Word and in deed. We are to use our talents and gifts to evangelize the lost world around us.
My question is this: Where is the passion and zeal for the church today? Where is the love and joy that the Bible promises to all who confess Jesus Christ as Savior? With our population growing, why do we baptize so few people, and our churches are not growing?
I believe with the New Year coming we Christians need a new vision for the future. Each of us personally, need a new encounter with God,. We need to recommit to our commitment once again. We need to fire up our passion and zeal for evangelism once more. We need to become bolder in our witnessing and more dependent on prayer. We serve a God of new beginnings. Let's have a new beginning. The old must go and the new must come.
To restore passion and zeal we must reestablish hope and purpose. The why is more important than the how. If we are committed to the Why, we will learn how. What I am saying is that we need to go back to basics.
In the Colossian letter Paul is doing just that in the first chapter. Here is what he says.
He starts with God's promise: "Faith and love that spring from hope that is stored for you in heaven." Verse 5 Then he reminds them of the great harvest. "All over the world this gospel is producing fruit and growing." Verse 6
Then he reminds them that the truth set them free. "Since the day you heard and understood God's grace in all its truths." Verse 6
Paul prayed a special prayer for them. "Asking God to fill you with all knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding." Verse 9
Then Paul ask them to be good examples. "Live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work growing in the knowledge of God." Verse 10
Here is Paul's reminder that we must not forget. "Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints." Verse 12
"For he has recued us from the dominion of darkness." Verse 13.
The message of hope is for us and the lost world. We have been saved to serve and to witness. Our mission is not finished and our God expects us to obey Him.
Let's begin the New Year with new hope and passion. Let us not pull back but press on until Jesus comes. God is calling us to be risk takers and not walk in fear.

The time has come for the church to come alive. God is not dead. God has not lost His power. The church has lost her power and witness. The Christians have lost their power and witness.
What would please God? What can the church do? There has always been one and only one solution to stop sin and regain godly power; repentance. Without repentance there will be no change, or revival, no power, no divine experience. Remember the words of Jesus: "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near." Matthew 4:17. Or in Luke 13:5, "I tell you no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."
The sad part of this story is that the church does not realize that we are dead spiritually. No excitement, no great break-through conversions, no real joy, no overflowing crowds at services and worship, no stopping of sin, but life just goes on. We are not the church as described in the Book of Acts. We are doctrinally correct, but spiritually dead.
The future of the American churches is very predictable. We will follow the churches of Europe in the future to die out. Only a few will remain faithful. No evangelism, no new church plants, no hope because we have left our first love. It may take 100 years but it will happen unless the American churches wake up to realize they have become liberal and unspiritual.
This is Old Testament history all over again. Each generation gets further and further from God. Other interests and desires replace God; it's called idol-worship. The American idols are sports, recreation, success and money, alcohol, drugs, movies, and videos, and anything that separates us from God.
This opens the door for false religions to move into our country. Our government will not protect our Christian rights or our heritage. A government that is run by non-believers and pagans cannot be blessed by God. Soon we see temples and mosques to foreign gods that are not the true God. So, our country that was once free becomes pagan and anti-Christian.
It is still not too late. However, time is running out. God has blessed America and been patient with her, but our sin will bring his wrath. The church has become dry bones that could live again. But they need life and the Holy Spirit to bring us to a new holiness and working of the Holy Spirit.
Failure is not final but we have the smell of death about us. Without repentance there will be no conviction and no change. With God there is always hope, but it is getting dimmer every day.
The coming of Jesus Christ and His death on the cross will be wasted without a new awaking in America. God is calling His church back to action and spirituality. God is still God with power and authority. He is still our salvation and deliverer. He is still the only hope for us now and the future generation in America.
Think on these things and pray.

The body of Christ is made up of people from all walks of life, races and nationalities. Young and old, we are all one body of Christ Jesus.
The body of Jesus Christ is to be a testimony of the transforming power of the gospel. Our witness has respect in our community only if the transformation is evident in the world's eyes. The Christian's behavior is always being watched by the world.
The body of Jesus Christ is to live under the authority of Jesus Christ and His Word. The Word is our director. It directs us how to live to please God. The Word is our counselor and teaches us how to live with our brothers and sisters. The Word teaches us how to live in the world but not be a part of the evil in the world.
The body of Jesus is the extension of the heavenly body of all the saints in history. There is only one kingdom of God, both on earth and in heaven. When God saves a person, we are added to His kingdom. As subjects of God's kingdom we are responsible to live by the kingdom rules of Christian conduct. We cannot serve two masters. As Christians we only love one Master, Jesus Christ.
The body of Jesus Christ is the mission arm of God's kingdom. We are the outreach to evangelize as many souls as possible until Jesus returns. We are to witness and make disciples. We are to be the salt of the earth and light of the world. The body of Christ is the only hope the world may have for eternal life with God in heaven. There is no other name by which we must be saved. The hopeless world can only find peace with God through Jesus Christ.
The body of Jesus Christ is a community of believers who love and care for each other. Christian love binds us together, making us stronger than the world. Our commitment to God is also a commitment to Christ's body. Uncommitted believers are of no value to God. They become unfaithful and fall prey to false teaching and unhealthy thinking.
God knew His children here on earth would need direction and correction. The law under Moses failed to produce Godly living as God intended. So, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to establish His church for the good of mankind. The dispensation of grace came to redeem man through Jesus Christ who died for our sins. His death was a statement to the world of God's love for His creation.
God has done all He can to provide a way we can live and die in the faith. The body of Jesus Christ, the church, is God's answer to our cry for deliverance. We are saved and added to Christ's church. So, stay in the church. Don't abandon Christ's body. Jesus is returning for His church, not a world of rebellious believers. The nation of Israel was rebellious and look what happened to them. Praise the Lord for the body of Jesus Christ!

Religion is killing the church. If you don't think so then why are we not growing? Why are so many denominational churches closing? We don't have less people in the world, but it's religion that is killing the church.
Too many people are religious but not born again. Too many people go to church, but live and act just like the world. Too many religious people lack commitment or refuse to live under God's authority.
Let's face the facts. We, the church, have failed the great commission of Jesus Christ. We build buildings and draw big crowds, but the crowds are not transformed. Being a church member does not meet the qualification of a biblical disciple. People know about God, sing about God, and even pray to God, believe in God, but do not believe God. If they did, believe God, there would be real obedience, repentance, and transformation instead of just Sunday people.
God's heart must be aching for the American churches. We have it all, and yet we are left wanting. The Bible teaches us, or warns us, not to grieve the Holy Spirit, yet sin is out of control in believer's lives. Success is more important than serving God. Success and money are more important to our children because we as adults set the examples. Careers are more important than Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
American churches need an old time convicting, soul searching, repenting revival; a revival that brings conviction and change; one that produces transformed lives; one that restores God to His rightful place in the home and church and one that puts the fear in the hearts of people about ending up in Hell. We need a revival that calls the sinner to repentance at the foot of the cross, and that every born again Christian walks the walk and talks the talk. Yes, we need revival because religion is killing us.
I don't believe Jesus ever wanted the church to be religious like the Pharisees of His day. That is what the church is not. But Christianity is a way of life; a lifestyle based on God's Word and God's authority. Our citizenship is in heaven and our Lord and Master is Jesus Christ. We are called to be disciples and harvesters. Our wisdom and directions comes from God, not the world.
Our churches become religious because we have built great congregations around people's personalities and not built on Jesus Christ. He suffered and died to rescue us from the darkness of evil, false teachers, and the ways of the world. The world is not our home, heaven is. We are just passing through this world on our journey to eternal life. It is so temporary.
People are not our enemy, the devil and his demons are the enemy. Ephesians 6:12 makes this very clear. He, the devil, deceived us into thinking religion will save us. It will not. In fact, it will make us trust false teachings and lead us away from God, not to Him.
Jesus began preaching by saying "repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand". John, the baptizer, also preached repentance. When was the last time you heard a sermon on repentance?
The book of Revelation calls the churches to repentance. We must repent or perish. It was the religious people of Jesus' day who crucified Him. It is the religious people today who are claiming salvation but denying the authority of Jesus in their churches and lives.
Think on these things.
See ya in church,
Bud
Where has all the joy in the world gone? People are not happy nor are they encouraging others to be happy. People are worried about everything. The cost of living, the cost of cars and gasoline, the cost to repair cars, the cost of building, the cost of remodeling, the cost of education, the cost of retiring, the cost of dying, etc.
There is a cost people forget about, and that is the cost of ignorance. To ignore knowledge and gain understanding has a high cost. The Bible tells us to seek and find wisdom. Wisdom is the ability to understand and use knowledge and not just understand it.
The worries of this world rob our joy and happiness. People believe so much bad news, that they can't believe it when they hear good news. When the joy is gone, it's downhill from there. Production, relationships, and businesses suffer when there is not joy.
Worry creates a hopelessness that defeats people first in their mind. They give up in their mind before it affects the body. Hopeless people do desperate things, even dangerous things.
That is why Christians must put their hope in eternal things, not temporary things in this world. Our hope is in the living God, not in material things, or the flesh. We are on a journey through this life being tested by circumstances and our experiences. Every experience can prepare us or ruin us, depending on our attitude and mindset. An experience can teach us or fill us with pride. Pride can only lead to a down fall down the road. But, if we learn a lesson from an experience whether good or bad, we will grow from it and be better prepared next time.
God's love is such a compelling love that it eliminates the joy robbers. He loves us when we succeed or fail. He loves us back from bad experiences. His love and His Word help us understand the danger of pride and selfish ambition. His love for His church and His children compels us to love in return and be obedient.
So, why do Christians worry? They worry because they take their eyes off Jesus, and like Peter, they look at the storm. The minute we let down our guard the devil will give us the thoughts of doubt and discouragement. When this happens we take our eyes off of Jesus and His promises.
Paul told young Timothy to "Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers." I Tim 4:16
Doctrine is what you teach, and the fruit of the spirit is how you should live. Jesus said "He came that our joy may be complete." John 15:11
So, don't let the world steal your joy of life because life here on earth is a onetime deal. Don't waste it.
See ya in church,
Bud
We receive life from God. We receive ability from God. And then He gives us the ability to produce. It all comes from God. Man is God's creation, not God, man's creation.
It's God's desire to bless and in turn man is to glorify God. God will do His part and man must also do his part. When we obey all God's commands us to do, we open the way for God's blessing to flow freely. But we close the door by disobedience and rebellion. This hurts man and must grieve God's heart.
God, in the Old Testament, called the people stiff necked, or we would have said stubborn. They know God's commands and will for them, but they were unfaithful. They would get in trouble and then cry out to God, who would rescue them. This would happen again and again. But, each time they would stray a little farther from God until there was no desire to return. Their hard hearts prevented them from repenting and returning.
If God gives us everything for life, as the Bible says, then why are we so unproductive and unhappy? Are we so stiff necked too? Are we so stubborn and rebellious? The answer must be yes. God wants us to use the abilities and talents He gives us to be productive and produce wealth. Why, so that we can glorify Him. So He can bless us and lead us in lives free from all the temptations in this world. But not even those who professed to know Jesus Christ as Savior, fall way short of true victory.
We, in America, have too much, too quick, and too easy. What should be blessings turn into curser that destroys us. What God gives us should be blessings that bring joy, but cannot because of greed and selfishness. What Christians say is one thing, what they do is something else.
God is still God, and He is on His throne. He is still on His throne. He is still saving people and building people up spiritually to do His work here on earth. His promises are still true. His teachings still have great value and authorization. He is still in charge of his church. And, He is coming back some day.
Saying all that, we who are Christian, still have the ability to produce wealth. We still have the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us. We have the witness to a lost and dying world that we can overcome regardless of the circumstances. God has always provided a way for His children, and He still is today.
So, Christian, cheer up! Pray and speak up for your Lord. Don't back up but be bold and courageous. Let God lead you and feed you. Let God use your talents and gifts for the up building of His Kingdom.
Keep on keeping on till Jesus comes. We have been commanded and commissioned to do just that.
See ya in church,
Bud
Why is the Bible such an important book? And, is it important for people today?
First, it is more than important, it is very important. It is God's Word. It is God's Word to His creation, man. His Word teaches us about who God is, and how to live to please Him. It teaches us about God's likes and dislikes as well.
Second, His Word helps every born again believer learn and establish a good value system. This value system that is Bible based brings many good things; fulfillment, contentment, peace of mind, and most of all how to have unity with other people; both believers and nonbelievers. It builds unity with believers so that there are no divisions in God's body. Unity and respect of nonbelievers so that they too can be won over to Christ.
Third, the Bible is our history book of God's creation from the beginning. This is how we know and learn about sin entering the world through the first family. We learn from history the results of sin as well as the results of obedience. From history we learn about God's blessings and curses, and the battles fought both won and lost, and the reasons we can learn and not make the same mistakes.
Fourth, the Bible is our textbook for life. It is the life and teachings of Jesus who changed the world forever. Yes, He was the Son of God and He taught with authority and wisdom. His life and teachings opened up the world of grace for all mankind, Jew and Gentiles alike. The world today, 2000 years later, is still benefiting from Jesus' and God's Word. And, it will until He returns.
Fifth, and not the least, but the best, the Bible has God's message to mankind about how to be saved. To be saved is to be delivered and freed from the bondage of sin. To be saved or born again is to live and serve as a member of Christ's ambassadors. To be saved is to be freed from the bondage of the sinful nature and live and be under the authority of the spiritual nature. To be saved means you are saved from self-destruction.
Sixth, the Bible teaches us about the benefits of being a Christian. Yes, salvation is first and then all of God's blessings. We are added to His church. We learn to pray and to experience prayers being answered; the blessing of learning the true meaning of money and what stewardship really is according to God's Word. The blessings of discipleship and missions. The blessings of loving and being loved by other Christians.
Finally, we learn about heaven, the prepared place for God' saved. This is another benefit of serving and living for God, an eternal resting place. Is this not the greatest promise in the Bible? And we know God is faithful and His Word is truth.
Why is the Bible important? For all these reasons and many, many more. And is it important for people today? Yes, for people in the past, present, and the future till Jesus comes.
See ya in church,

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord"
Psalms 33:12
How wonderful it is when a nation honors the one and only true God. Their people are productive and happy. They live in unity and fellowship. Their children learn about the true God and worship Him.
Any nation in history that rebelled against God became evil, corrupt, and sin-burdened. Her people were always at war or fighting among themselves. There is never any real peace or true satisfaction. Money and power become the god of people who do not worship and honor the true God.
The Old Testament is full of stories of good kings and bad kings. Good leaders and bad leaders. When a good king led the people back to God, they prospered and worshiped as God intended. They were blessed because they obeyed. When they had a bad king, false gods were worshiped and evil and corruption took over the country. They were constantly at war with their neighbors and much fighting among themselves.
America was founded by God-fearing people. They came here from many countries to find freedom of religion and to raise their families in peace. But after 300 years we have become what our ancestors left their home country to get away from. Christians now, are not the majority nor respected in America. We are led by non-Christian leadership who are corrupted by power, just like the Old Testament times. All forms of religious symbols or displays are removed from public places. No longer is prayer in schools or public assemblies allowed. The non-Christian has more rights than the believers now in America.
Just take a minute to stop and think. We are rapidly going downhill, morally and spiritually. We are failing economically as a country. We are constantly in one war after another. Our youth are being corrupted by ungodly teachings in schools and colleges. They are more interested in teaching evolution and sex than teaching truth. We are constantly killing more human life through abortion than killing human life in war. We have become a nation without a conscience.
So, what are we as Christians to do? What is the church to do? We are to do exactly what God has always expected from His people. We are to obey Him. We are to be faithful to God and His teachings. We are to teach our children the truth while they are children so that they know God personally. Salvation is more important than a career.
If history repeats itself, America will destroy herself like all other countries that turn away from God. This thought is sobering.
We Christians have God's promises of eternal life. That is our hope. Suffering cannot be prevented. It is the consequence of sin and will. However, the Christian's life is not of this world, but part of a bigger world, the kingdom of Jesus Christ. We, in the end, will overcome and see Satan destroyed once and forever. The cross did not put an end to Jesus, and evil today will not put an end to Christianity. Remember, we are Christians first and Americans second. We will overcome. Praise the Lord.
See ya in church,
Bud
"Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses". 1Timothy 6:12
Paul is writing to his young disciple and giving him good advice. Fight for The Faith; The Gospel, The Good News, that Jesus saves. That salvation is found in no other name under heaven. He is saying there is only one way to heaven. The Faith.
Paul also is encouraging Timothy to keep his life pure. Why should he do this? I want to list some reasons, of why keeping your life pure has some great benefits to the Christian and God's kingdom.
Your life is a message.
Every born again Christian is a testimony to the power of God. The message is that you were transformed. The old is gone, the new has come. People see your life.
Your message has authority.
Authority is your submission to God's authority. We are under His authority, and we are His ambassadors. To speak for God, we must live for God.
Your fruit will be good.
Jesus said, "by their fruit you shall know them". When you keep your life pure and fight the good fight of The Faith, your fruit will be of the spiritual nature not the sinful nature.
Your life will have value.
As Christians, we live under God's law which has a special value system. You are valuable as a servant and soldier of the cross. The value is in the mission.
Your future will be secure.
Our hope is our security; God's promise and His provisions. The Faith is our trust in God not the world. This life on earth is just temporary but we live with God eternally.
Your God will be glorified.
Our lives are to bring glory to God and His kingdom. When we please God, we bring glory. When we avoid sin, we bring glory. When we witness, we bring glory. That is why we are Kingdom people.
Your family will be blessed.
Good off springs come from godly parents. Sinfulness blocks God's blessings. Keeping our lives pure is a way of living to please God and in turn we are open to His blessings.
Your mission will be blameless.
Paul encouraged Timothy to live a blameless life. God encourages us to live that way also. We are on a mission, each of us. Don't give the enemy any reason to ambush the mission.
These are just a few reasons to fight the good fight for The Faith, and to keep your life pure. There are many others, but you get the picture. God is counting on His people, the church, to live under different standards than the world's standards. We would do well to heed Paul's teachings.

What is the greatest gift God gives His creation, man? We all know it is eternal life. The soul and the spirit of man can live forever with God in heaven. This goes without question and every born again Christian understands this teaching from God. We know our life here on earth is a very short time compared to eternity.
Knowing what our greatest gift is, what is our second greatest gift from God? Is it success or good health, or many other things I could mention? No, I believe our second greatest gift that God gives mankind is our mind or potential.
Every human being of sound mind has great potential. We can think and we can act on our thoughts and ideas. We can be creative and productive. We can write stories and write beautiful music. We can do so many wonderful things with the gift of potential God gives us.
As Christians, think of the potential for the church. We can sing and praise and worship. We can read God's Word. We can teach God's Word. We can lead others to a saving knowledge in Jesus Christ. We can become disciples who disciple others. We can become missionaries, preachers, and great musicians. We can do these things all because God gives us the great gift of a sound mind that has potential.
Just think if every born again Christian would use their gift to its greatest potential. Just think if every born again Christian would be bold and witness for Jesus Christ. Just think if every born again church member would use their gifts and talents daily for Jesus Christ. What potential that would be for God's Kingdom!
Here is the question then; why don't we? There are probably many excuses as we have people. But what is the real reason?
We have become so consumed with self that we use our potential only to survive in this world. We are desperate to make money and have nice things. These are not bad in themselves. However, our potential as Christians is not being used, but in fact it's being wasted. Another reason might be that we human beings are too lazy to do the extra things that God wants to do through us.
Here is something I want you to think about as we begin a new year. Ask yourself some hard questions. What do I have to use for God? Why am I not doing it? What do you think your greatest potential is for God's Kingdom? What are your gifts and talents? What are your dreams for the future? Do you have a vision for yourself, your family, and your church?
Please think about these things. Then, leave your comfort zone and activate your dreams and potential. God has a plan for every born again believer. Have you found yours yet? Why not? Why wait, do it now. God is counting on you. Your church is counting on you. Your family is counting on you.
Let the Holy Spirit spark your potential. Let the Word of God guide you. And let the world know you are for real. You can do it, do it now!

How can I make my Christian walk a success? The key is to understand the word success.
To me a successful Christian is growing, faithful, and serving God in some way. Success is not based on position or power, but building up the kingdom of God.
Each individual has a different calling. We are called, sanctified and set apart for the work of the ministry. God has a vision for every saved person, and that person needs to have a vision for God. Success is when God’s vision and your vision are the same.
Romans 12:2 “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Vision is a preferred future, imparted from God. His will for you is His vision for you. Your will must be submission to the will of God.
How does this happen?
See it clearly – You Understand
Say it constantly – You witness & share His Word
Show it creatively – You live what you believe
How can I do this effectively?
Discipline your desire – Are your desires in accord with God’s Word
Restrain Your reactions – Self control
Keep your Commitments – Be Faithful
What will the results be?
You will believe great things about God
You will attempt great things for God
You will receive great things from God
The successful Christian will now have a new level of faith and understanding. They will have a new determination and discipline in serving God. Their vision will be clear, their mission sure, and they will have no fear of the outcome.
Most believers never reach this level of their faith. They are saved but the Lordship of Jesus Christ is absent. These believers stay on the milk and never reach maturity. How sad that is; wasted potential and unfulfilled lives that could be filled with joy.
But for those who have the desire and discipline to grow, they can reach this level of faith. Life takes on new meaning. The church takes on new meaning. Discipleship takes on new meaning. Evangelism takes on new meaning. This is because you have found real purpose, and now you have discovered the newness of Christ.
Reread this article again slowly. Where are you in your Christian walk? Are you successful in God’s eyes? Is your life productive and fulfilling? Maybe a change is in order. Maybe the time has come to grow up and get serious about your walk with Jesus Christ.
See ya in church,
Bud
“If you falter in times of trouble, how small is your strength!” Proverbs 24:10
People who have faith have all they need to live a victorious life. Never look at what you lack but where your strength is. “The joy of the Lord is our strength.”
Here are things to remember as you deal with life:
I already have the faith I need to attack every lack. Mark 9:23
I will start attacking my lack today.
Psalm 30:5
My lack isn’t beyond God’s ability.
Mark 9:23
I will attack my lack thru giving and receiving.
Luke 6:38
God has a personal harvest for me. 2 Corinthians 9:10
I will trust God as the source of my supply.
Philippians 4:19I will cheer up today-roses will bloom for me again. Matthew.5:12
I will plant my best seeds daily.
Mark 4:24
I will pursue the God kind of prosperity.
Psalm 37:3-5
I am not out of options.
Psalm 34:19
I will plant my seeds even during hard times.
Genesis 26:12
I will speak God’s faith-filled words.
Matthew 12:37
We Christians are so quick to forget that we are not on this earth permanently. We are just passing through with limited years to serve God, so don’t lose your focus. We are the salt of the earth and a light to a dark and dying world.
We will have problems and crisis. We will be tested again and again, but “with God all things are possible.” We are to stand our ground against the devil. We are to reach out, not die out.
Paul wrote a very encouraging letter to the Philippian church and in it he said: “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” Phil. 4:11 He went on to write: “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” Phil 4:13 Then finally he writes:” and my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Phil.4:19
We know life is not fair or even certain here on this earth. But the Lord will provide and protect you. However, we must be patient, obedient, and faithful until the end.
This is the year of evangelism in our church. This is a very exciting time in our history. God is calling us to be alert and to be harvesters. It’s His will and it’s His church. We are the workers and servants in His vineyard. Each individual must do his or her part. God expects fruit from His church, not excuses.
Remember, “Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain.” Psalm 127:1
Let’s attack our lack and see what God is going to do.
See ya in church,
Bud
It’s very easy for a church to lose its original focus. Our focus at Cogan Station from day one has been to reach the unreached and disciple the reached. This means that everything that happens in the church needs to have reaching the lost and discipleship as its overall purpose. Will it win souls, will it disciple, and will it glorify God?
A recent poll indicates that fewer people are going to church in 2008 than 1984. How sad that is, especially when we realize how fast the population is increasing. And to think; God’s church is decreasing not increasing; sad.
I want to make a special appeal to all who read this article. Will you become a committee of one to reach out and bring someone to Christ? You say, “How can I do this?” Here are some tips.
1.Pray daily for a list of unsaved, unchurched people you know. Make a list and use it every day.
2. Invite people to church at least twice a week. Ask them to be your guest on the Lord’s Day. Talk to everyone you see about your church.
3. Present the gospel to one person every two weeks. Better yet, be discipling someone all the time.
4. If you are not already, agree to be discipled and equipped to disciple. Volunteer to be a teacher, greeter, substitute teacher, etc. Find something to get involved with in the life of the church.
5. Look around on the Lord’s Day for guests and go out of your way to greet them and talk to them. Let people know you are delighted that they are here. Everyone can, and should be a greeter for Christ. Remember how wonderful it is to have friends and in turn, you be friendly.
6. Become familiar with the ministries here at Cogan Station so that you can encourage
people to get connected with a meaningful ministry. Help people find the Welcome
Center or classrooms, etc.
Remember, we are not saved to sit. We are won to win, converted to contact, regenerated to teach, filled to overflow and inspired to invite. Without a true passion for the salvation of souls we become passive and we do nothing. The church can become filled with saved, selfish people instead of saved, evangelistic people.
If you don’t have a burden for the lost, ask God to give you one. Remember, seek and you shall find, ask and it shall be given to you.
Yes, we all have a part. Salvation is of God, but he has ordained that the gospel message, beginning with your testimony, be communicated through you and me. The Holy Spirit does the convicting, but our lips and tongues do the talking. That’s how God planned it.
We, the body of Christ, have it to do. Let’s not let God or our leaders down. People are waiting for your call or invitation today. Don’t keep them waiting.
See ya in church,
Bud
The body of Christ, the church, never grows accidently, but intentionally. The church grows because it has a desire to grow. It grows both numerically and spiritually.
Some would say we are growing spiritually but not in numbers. That is impossible. If you are truly growing spiritually, numbers will be added. When we grow spiritually we produce fruit. No fruit, no growth. It’s that simple.
Jesus said, “He came to seek and save the lost.” That is why the Holy Spirit came. That is why Peter preached that great sermon at Pentecost. That is why the church exists today; “To seek and save the lost.”
To obey this command, the church must do some very important things. There is too much busy works in the church today. Too much time spent doing things that don’t build the kingdom but keeps the church from doing evangelism.
Churches grow because of good leaders; leaders with vision and passion for the lost; leaders who are risk takers and willing to do whatever it takes to motivate people to grow in numbers and spirit.
There is no substitute for the preaching of the Word. No program, song, or drama will take its place. There is a place for programs song, and drama. But, the preaching of the Word brings conviction and conviction brings change. Jesus was a preacher, John the Baptist was a preacher, Peter preached, Paul preached, Philip preached, Steven preached, and we must preach truth also. Churches are growing because the Word is being preached, and churches are dying because the Word is not being preached.
Another reason churches grow is because of good worship experiences. Great worship is not only singing, but praying and testimonies. Through worship we come into the presence of God as we sing and pray. We express our love and gratitude to God. In testimonies we share our burdens and blessings. Worship is about God and our relationship with Him. Until we truly worship we can’t experience love in God’s way.
Good worship is a key in evangelism. New people who are not believers get the picture of God’s love as they see believers worship. They not only see, but feel God’s love in the assembly. Then they hear the Word of Truth spoken with power and authority. This brings conviction and conviction brings change.
Now a growing church is prepared to minister to the new converts because they have small groups and accountability groups. New converts need to be connected quickly to the body or they may fall away. The secret is to be prepared for growth.
The world is craving true love and the true body of Christ has true love. Our job is to find hungry people, invite them to church and invest in their lives. It is time for the church to wake up to the fact that unless we do more of this we are going to have less.
It’s time to prioritize and evangelize for the Kingdom of God. We are Kingdom people, called to do Kingdom work. So let’s be about it. Church growth is everybody’s business. Do you want a blessing? Invite a friend to church.
See ya in church,
Bud
If God is our Father, and I truly believe He is, then why are we Christians not having a better influence in the world? There is a lack. Something is really missing. We are busy, but unproductive. We are doing church, but not producing transformed lives.
We, in the church, must be asking hard questions and seeking ways to reach a lost and dying world.
I think we need to ask different questions or maybe ask in a different way.
Example:
Not: How can we prevent church attendance decline?
Rather: How can we present Christianity not bound by church traditions and cultural barriers?
Not: How can we get more people out to church?
Rather: How can we get more people in touch with God?
Not: How can we get more people involved with ministry?
Rather: What is blocking and discouraging people from using their spiritual gifts?
Not: How do we compete with other churches?
Rather: How do we pray and work with other believers to build up the kingdom of God?
Not: How do we get more people to tithe?
Rather: How can we expose more people to God’s blessings?
Not: How can we better train Christians?
Rather: How can we better role model Christianity?
These are just some examples to challenge our thinking and help us look at answers as the body of Christ. We are trying to win a lost world that does not believe it is lost. That’s the first problem. Then its churches full of luke-warm people who are not good role models.
As long as the church is satisfied to be powerless, we will have no impact on the world. The disciples in the book of Acts were men and women power-filled and good role models. It was very clear they were different from the world and separated to Christ. They had authority and boldness. People wanted what they had. That is the problem, people don’t want what we are teaching and preaching.
If God is our Father, some changes have to be made. We need a new vision and inspiration. We need more victories and fewer excuses. We need transformation not so much information. We need testimonies, not tales of woe. We need our Heavenly Father to shake us up and wake us up, or nothing will ever change.
We are not dead yet, but close.
See ya in church,
Bud
There are wars and disasters everywhere. There is pain and suffering everywhere. Man has no power over wind, water nor fire. Sometimes it seems the world has gone mad.
Where is God in all of this? The answer is simple. God is where He always has been, on the Throne in his Heavenly home. When people ask this question “where is God,” what they are really saying is why does God let bad things happen? That answer is simple also. He blesses and provides for the obedient not the rebellious and greedy. However, when bad things happen good people get hurt too. Suffering is caused by sinful, rebellious people ever since the fall from the garden. All through history when people are not under God’s control, they were out of control.
Jesus’ disciples asked him one day when the end would come? Here is his answer.
Matthew 24:4-14 “Jesus answered: Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of Me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
Not only in America have people ignored God, but around the world. False religions or no religion has produced a world that is driven by power and greed. We are living in (as the Bible stated) perilous time. The end times and the end may be near.
The persecution of Christians around the world is at an all time high. The Muslims hate the Christians because of what we stand for. Liberals hate us because of our biblical stand on such things as gay rights and abortion. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He chose for his inheritance.” Psalm 33:12
So, what are we as Christians to do? The commands of Jesus are still in effect today. Love Him, obey Him, and go make disciples. But, in these last days we must prepare to suffer for our faith. They did in the 1st century, in fact, all through the history of the church. We in America have not been put to the real test yet, but it is coming. False prophets and cheap grace is everywhere. Don’t be surprised at anything. Be prepared and live or die as a true, loyal and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. We have His promises and they are true. The enemy will fail and Christ’s church will win.
See ya in church,
Bud
Would God allow evil men in leadership to destroy America? Would God allow American Christians to become so liberal that they don’t follow His Word? Would God allow America to be overcome and overrun by foreign gods?
Yes, to all of the above questions. God will allow a people to destroy themselves. God will allow people who ignore His authority and teachings to go their own way. He has in the past, so why not now?
The fruit of American's rebellion is destroying a once great country. Murder, rape, physical abuse, drugs, political corruption, divorce, abortion, homosexuality, and much, much more is the fruit of disobedience to the one true God. Education and intelligence has not made us a better people, but only highly educated; unwise, immoral people. We are smart but so immoral and ungodly.
Ask yourself if this country is better off because of all our technology and education? Is it a good country to raise our families? Has our modern stuff, made our lives better? No, our lives are more complicated, more stressful and more greedy. It is not easier, but more difficult. We are so busy taking a advantage of all our opportunities that we don’t have time to live or even to enjoy life. We don’t have time to smell the roses.
How could this happen to such a great nation like America? Progress has not made life better nor easy. No, progress has enslaved us. We have become slaves to our successes. We have become slaves to careers. We have become slaves to our money. We have become slaves to keeping up with the Jones’.
It’s the old “tail wagging the dog” deal.
II Peter 2:19b “A man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.” A truer statement was never written. Now that we know what the problem is, what is the solution?
The solution is that America must return to God. Going backwards is very hard, but America needs to go back to the basics that made us great. God and family. Local governments that minister to the needs of their people. Pride in community and family. Pride in hard work and the building of something that has lasting value.
The solution is for people to take back their lives. No more bondage to materialism. People need margin in their lives. Most people are carrying too much stress in their lives. Stress because of too much debt. Stress because of uncertain work conditions. Stress in marriage and stress with the children.
The solution is to make peace with God first. People are living and dying fighting God and self. The solution is surrender to God. Surrender to God’s authority. Surrender to a life under God’s leadership.
Can America become great again? Yes, but it is going to take sacrifice and dedication. God’s promises are true but they are conditional. God is not obligated to America if she lives in disobedience and rebellion. We can’t have it both ways.
As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. What are you going to do”
See ya in church,
Bud
To solve a problem, we must first identify the problem. I see the problem as a God problem for us. I am talking about the church in America. So, if that is true and I believe it is, then we must do certain things to solve this problem.
First, we must seek God as never before. This includes prayer, fasting and preaching that produces convictions.
Second, we must produce disciples not just converts. We need real salt and real light. We need total commitment from those who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Third, we must, as a church, return to a life as Jesus called us to live. He called us to be God-fearing people who produce God fearing children. It’s the future generations who must turn our country back to God. Our children are being programmed to paganism in the schools and colleges. They are determining the future of our children not the parents and the churches.
Fourth, we must, as a church, evangelize like never before. We must teach truth and expose false doctrine; we must expose false teachers who teach lies and cheap grace. Not everyone will listen, but some will. We are not here to be popular but to preach the good news. The church needs to wake up and we need shaken up to do the will of the Father.
Fifth, we need a revival in America; an old-time convicting, weeping, truly repentant sinners’ revival as we come to the foot of the cross. No more dancing around the problem but exposing sin as the Bible declares. As long as people are entertained they will be beautiful and not deal with sin.
We are living in bad, spiritual times but they are great times for the Christians, if we follow God. He is our King and we are not permanent in this world. We have a heavenly home where thieves and robbers can’t destroy. Praise the Lord.
God must revive us before he can restore us. In fact, as a nation, our understanding of God is almost non-existent. We are generations away as a nation that obey and reverence God. But I believe it can happen for us because it has in the past, God is a forgiving and loving God.
In the book of Hosea, God told the people: Your deeds do not permit you to return to your God. Hosea 5:4; Israel’s arrogance testifies against them. Hosea 5:5; You are unfaithful to the Lord- you give birth to illegitimate children. Hosea 5:7; I long to redeem you but you speak lies against me. Hosea 7:13; the days of punishment are coming, the day of reckoning is at hand. Hosea 9:7.
Here could be God’s advice to America. “Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord until he comes and showers righteousness on you.” Hosea 10:12
It’s not too late to return to God. But, how much time do we have left before we totally destroy ourselves? Heaven is for the prepared and obedient. Hell is for the rebellious and disobedient. We Americans can solve our problem, but we must return to the Lord soon.
See ya in church,
Bud
Do you ever become discouraged? Do you ever become tired of trying to convince people to believe, let alone to be committed? Do you ever become tired of people putting down our doctrine? Do you ever get tired of people putting down the church and Christianity? I sure do.
The Bible teaches us not to grow weary of doing good, but this world is wearisome. People today are becoming so stubborn and hard headed. They are becoming so closed-minded and so tunnel-visioned. And, these are not the world but people who say they are Christians or at least believe in God. I am going to term them “non-believing Christians” in this writing.
In fact, I find the non-believer easier to deal with today than these “non-believing Christians. They say they believe, yet deny the authority of God’s Word. The devil has so deceived these people that they believe his lies and they spread his lies for him. And, do you know what is sad? They think they are right. God help us.
The American Christians are in big trouble and our churches don’t even know it. Sunday after Sunday people come, sing, give their money, and live lives that are so contrary to God’s Word. We have become divisive, greedy, selfish, and down right un-teachable. Ask yourself this question, are the Christians bringing glory to God or just playing church?
Here is my point; we as a church are to set the standards of morality and spirituality. Is it really happening? NO! Read the book of Judges in the Old Testament and then compare the Jews’ lives and how America lives today. In the book of Judges, they worshiped idols and ignored God’s teachings. Our idols are different but still idols. An idol is anything that separates you from God and you worship it. Our idols are money, cars, homes, positions, titles, politics, etc. we are consumed with self and having no time for God.
Just sit down and compare the 1st century Christians in the book of Acts with the Christians today. We are not even close. No boldness, no witnessing, no revivals. We cannot even start a riot! The world is not concerned about us because we are not much different from them.
What will it take for the churches in America to become God living, God preaching, God believing people of God?
Psalm 51:12 has the answer. “Restore to me the joy of your salvation..” We have lost the joy. And when the joy is gone the passion is gone. We need a revival of the simple basics of our faith all over again. Our behavior and our fruit are bad because our joy and passion is gone.
Please tell me I am wrong. Please tell me the churches in America are healthy and growing. But you know I am right. We are what we believe, we live what we believe, and what we believe is coming up short for the next generation. I believe God is calling His churches to repentance today, but we are not listening. We need to wake up church, before there is no time left.
See ya in church, Bud
God’s goal for His people has always been to be their God and to bless them. His love for His creation is everywhere in the Bible. His concern for their going astray is all through His writing.
Listen to His statement in Hosea 13:6 - “When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud, then they forgot me.”
Hear the warning in Deut. 8:11-14 - “Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe His commandments, His laws, and His decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, when your herds and flocks grow large, your silver and gold increase, and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud, and you will forget the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” Verse17: You may say to yourself that your power and the strength of your hands have produced this wealth, but remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant, which He swore to your forefathers, as it is today.”
What was God’s covenant that is confirmed by this teaching? God made a covenant with Abraham to bless him and a covenant with Moses when his people came out of Egypt. This was a two-part covenant with God and man. God would provide and protect His people, and He would bless them. The people’s part was to obey all His commandments and worship Him. The covenant was in effect as long as both parties kept their part of bargain. But if the people disobeyed and forgot God, listen to his warning. “If you forget God, your God, and start taking up with other gods, serving and worshiping them, I’m on record right now as giving you a firm warning; that will be the end of you; I mean it - destruction. You’ll go to your doom - the same as the nations God is destroying before you. Doom because you wouldn’t obey the voice of God, your God”. The Message Duet 8:19-20
Do we, in the New Testament, still have a covenant with God? Yes, our covenant is with God through Jesus Christ. He is our Savior and Lord. We are added to the covenant in Jesus Christ through His shed blood and grace. Jesus did His part, but we must do our part; not just believe in Him and be born again, but obey Him in everything. If we forget Jesus Christ and go off after other interests and gods, we, like the Old Testament people, are doomed. There can be no halfway stuff.
Why the warning about the Harvest? Because we American Christians have been truly blessed. God has multiplied our wealth. We have a good lifestyle and freedom. But now pride has overtaken us. Do we really need faith? We can do it ourselves. Do we need God? Yes, but just as a status symbol, not as Lord of our lives. We are too busy making money and enjoying life to be bothered with that true religious stuff. Our churches are dying spiritually yet growing in numbers. We build big church buildings to show what we have done, but where is the joy and glory to God?
Our prosperity will either draw us closer to God, or it will drive us farther away. We do need to have a great harvest, but keep God in charge of everything.
Think on these things.
See ya in church,
Bud
As you enlarge your harvest, God is going to teach you some very important things such as:
Give it cheerfully to accomplish God-honored purposes. That is your tithe.
Share it reasonably to meet people’s need and fulfill personal desires. That is stewardship to others.
Save it in order to extend value and to keep meeting the needs of the future.
When we tithe, when we share and when we save , we express confidence in God and the future. God has a financial plan for every Christian, no matter how much or how little you have. True, we must have money on which to live and also to do the Lord’s work. However, God wants us to have a good attitude about finances, without being ruled by them.
God has given the Christian the responsibility of good stewardship. We are to guard what has been entrusted to our care. We are to set good examples so that our teaching has value and impact. Godliness with contentment is great gain according to Paul’s letter to Timothy.
As you seek financial freedom, make it a priority in your life. Don’t just talk about it , do it. Let God lead, feed and bless you. Come to grips with the truth and it will set you free. Peter said, “a man is a slave to whatever masters him.” Is that not true? As you enlarge your harvest, you enlarge your possibilities. You enlarge your potential. You enlarge the kingdom. You enlarge your net worth of Christian influence. You bring glory to God and His kingdom.
As Christians, we think of the harvest on two fronts. One is the harvest of our labor so we can live and glorify God. But, the greater reason is that God wants to enlarge our harvest of souls.
I believe the devil sidetracks us to be anxious and worried about money so that we don’t win souls. We become consumed with our lifestyle and we miss the greatest blessing of all. That blessing is seeing people come to Christ. If Jesus said that the fields were white for the harvest when He walked on earth, is it any different today with the population increase in 2000 years?
We have been commanded, commissioned and empowered to preach the gospel to a dark, dying world. The darkness is becoming even greater by the day. I believe we, the church, have been consumed by the maintenance of the church and are neglecting the call to evangelize.
These times are not times to pull back or run scared. We must be aggressive. We must enlarge our harvest. for the sake of the kingdom. With the power of God, nothing is impossible if we will seek His will and follow His authority. I believe we are weak because we chose to be weak. We have not because we ask not, or we spend what we do get on the wrong things. We are kingdom people doing kingdom work and that is our sole purpose.
“Do not be deceived. God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. “ Gal. 6:7-9
It’s harvest time!

But seek first the kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. This is the key of being free. By seeking His righteousness means that you are in right standing with God. You are in His favor and under His authority. These things that are promised are your needs. This will be your blessing and harvest.
Now as you are blessed you can be a blessing to others. Listen to Paul as he commanded the Macedonian churches. “Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.” 2 Cor. 8:2 How could this be? They understood the grace of giving, not the selfishness of getting.
Living within your harvest is possible, but it’s not always popular. It’s a conviction, not a suggestion. To do this we must discipline our desires and understand what our real needs are. To live within the harvest you may have to reduce spending and increase your savings. Our savings are for the unexpected things that will come, such as a car breakdown, sickness, washing machine repair, etc. A good budget always has at least six months money in reserve to live on.
As a Christian, as an elder in the church, I am very concerned about the traps Christians are caught in today. Credit card debt, high mortgages, cars they can’t afford, luxuries, and I could go on and on.
This is one of our greatest stress factors today. It must come under control, and it will take real tough decisions. Christ’s church is suffering because of our lack of understanding.
Does God have a financial plan for the Christian? Yes, He does. He wants to bless us, and He is generous with His blessings. But we must put our lives and spending habits under His authority.
Debt is the destroyer of joy and the father of stress. We Christians have been deceived into acting and thinking like the world by living beyond our means and thinking material things will make us happy. Materialism is the downfall of too many Christians, resulting in destructive results.
Our load of debt has splintered our families, taking away the joy of our harvest; harvest meaning our income. So what is the solution now that we have identified the problem?
The number one discipline a Christian must learn is the blessing of God’s financial plan for tithing. When you do not tithe, you not only rob God, you rob yourself too. He cannot bless disobedience. Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey me.” God is a generous God, and we know it. He will bless your harvest, because by it the whole kingdom is blessed.
We start by living within our harvest. This means that you live within your income. Big or small, that’s what you have to work with. These are tough times, and people must wake up. Our ancestors passed on to us good principles, such as use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.
God has promised to meet our need, but not our selfish wants. Will He give us the desires of our heart? Yes, but within His will, our means, and in obedience to His financial plan. I don’t mean the church is suffering for the lack of money, but it’s the suffering of God’s people that is killing them spiritually. Jesus came to save us so that we could have joy.
Think on these things.

Jesus is coming again. The New Testament foretold it and God promised it. Jesus is really coming again. Yes, He was here once, but He is coming back to receive His church unto Himself.
The world rejected Jesus when He came the first time. He was crucified and the devil’s crowd thought they won, but “up from the grave He arose”. And He is alive today, having ascended back to heaven. This time when Jesus comes, it will be different. The world will still reject Him, but His church will welcome Him. His sheep will know Him and He will know them. His body of believers will praise Him because He is their Priest and King. The faithful, the redeemed , born again, blood bought, people from around the world awaits His coming in the clouds.
His love will redeem the saved and the lost will experience His wrath. For some it will be a glorious day, for others a day of destruction. He will separate the sheep from the goats. He will reward the faithful and punish all who have rejected His gospel to be saved. What a glorious day that will be for the church and His body of believers. But, He will come as a thief in the night and all who follow or lead false teachings will be lost. No one knows the time, just that it will happen. God’s Words are true, God’s promises are true, and His coming again is true. God’s love and grace brought Jesus to mankind the first time and love and grace will bring Him back.
While we, as a church, wait for His coming there is still time to evangelize. Our mission is still to “go preach, teach, and baptize”. Our work as a church is not finished yet. As long as it’s still time and people are still lost, we must preach the good news.
As Christians, just the thought of Jesus coming again should excite us. It should motivate us to action. It should call us to sacrifice and seek the lost with all zeal and wisdom. Knowing the time could be short and the salvation of souls so important, we can not linger. We were saved to tell others and God expects no less from His church.
In this dark world we are the salt and light. The world grows darker because of man’s love for evil and pleasure. The devil and his demons are not dead but we aren’t either. It’s a spiritual war that God expects His body to keep fighting until Jesus comes. We have the power and resources to continue this fight against evil. We have the authority and commands from Jesus Himself to go and make disciples.
The Jews rejected Jesus because they did not recognize or expect prophecy in Him and His teachings. People today still reject Jesus Christ for the same reasons.
Please believe the Bible, Jesus is coming again. Prepare now. Set your house in order and then you are ready, no matter when He comes. If you miss heaven you will miss it all. And hell is not a good place to spend eternity.

How successful are you? To answer that will depend on what you call success. What the world calls success and what God calls success may be two different things.
In the eyes of the world, success is making lots of money, being at the top of your company, or being a very popular singer or sports star, etc. The question then becomes, Are they fulfilled? Has the success of the world made them a better person?
In the eyes of God, success is a whole different set of measurements. Success in God’s eyes is anyone who lives under high standards and brings fulfillment to others. Success in God’s eyes is family, relationships, church, work, and community. These bring fulfillment and joy to everyone.
When God blesses a person and they become successful, there is danger involved. They may become too busy for God with their blessing. Success may make that person feel that they don’t need God, and then they become independent of Him. I have seen this happen to people who God has blessed. Yes, there is danger in success, unless it builds character and integrity.
On the other hand, success with God brings many wonderful things. It keeps us balanced and humble. It keeps us worshiping and praising God. It keeps us grateful and faithful. We know that without God our purpose and blessings will stop. The other amazing thing is that as we grow as a Christian, money and things become less important, and people and God become the center of our lives.
Life is a test. We were born for a purpose. According to the Old Testament, more people failed the test than passed it. We are tested everyday over and over again. We are tested first in our relationship to God. Then we are tested in our families, our workplace, our financial dealings, and on it goes. We are constantly having our character and integrity tested.
Life is also a journey of experience and knowledge. Knowledge teaches us facts and figures. Experience teaches us reality. The combination of experience and knowledge helps us make our daily choices, and there are many to make. All choices have consequences, some good, and others may be bad. All during this journey we rely on God’s Word for good advice and knowledge.
Finally, life is a mission for Christians. We are here to serve, not to be served. We are to evangelize and disciple lost people. We are to worship God and praise Him. We are to pray for others and for constant guidance. We are to fellowship with God and people. We are to strive to be Christ-like in all things. The mission and how we carry it out will be the true picture of success. To the world it may not look like success, but in God’s eyes it is. And He is who we are to please.
“Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.” Proverbs 3:13-15

Whatever happened to common sense? The definition is “normal intelligence, sound, practical judgment.”
Normal intelligence, practical judgment makes sense to me. Where is it today? Have we become so intelligent that we are no longer practical? Has our education moved us beyond common sense or has our technology done this to us? Something has for sure.
God’s design for life is very simple. Love your neighbor as yourself. Do unto others as you would have them do onto you. Have no other gods before you. Love
the Lord your God, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your minds. Love your enemy, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Paul also wrote to the church at Thessalonica: “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.” 1 Thess 4:11-12
Christianity requires discipline to learn of God and His teachings. But much of Christianity is plain, common sense too. Somehow we have, like the Pharisees, made the Christian life difficult or cheap. What is so hard to understand about: “If you love me you will keep my commandments?” It’s just good common sense. Jesus is saying that your obedience proves your love for me, and your disobedience tells me you don’t love me. It’s just that simple. But no, we become spiritual lawyers and twist the scripture. It’s really simple. It’s plain black and white; no gray areas and no cheap grace.
Common sense teaches us to understand the teaching which states, “You can’t serve two masters.” Why is this true? I believe it’s because it’s a matter of the heart. What do you desire and love most? The love of money produces greed and selfishness. Love produces giving and sharing. Like oil and water, the two don’t mix.
The world and our American culture make it very difficult today to be a Christian and to live to please God. Cheap grace and false teaching is accepted as normal. The narrow way is too hard. The broad way that leads to destruction is too easy. I believe true Christianity is the exception.
If you just stop and think (something we Christians don’t like to do), the simple basic truths of the Bible are nothing more than principles and promises. The Word is very clear on who is blessed and who is not. The Word is very clear on who is obedient and who is not. The Word is very clear on who will enter heaven and who will not. It’s just common sense.
Christianity is not growing, not because it has lost power or authority, but because we are trying to serve two masters. It can’t be done.
Take time in the next few days and examine your heart. Does your faith and the way you live line up with God’s Word?
See Ya in Church
Bud
What do you expect out of life? Do you have high or low expectations? How about the people around you? What are their expectations? Do they encourage and pray for you or do they pull you down? You are thinking, ‘why the questions?’ Why ask about the people around me? I ask because they have a great deal of influence on your life; more than you know.
We like to live in our comfort zone. A place where we are safe and have things under control. But we don’t grow in our comfort zone. We are not stretched nor challenged. In fact, we go backwards without challenges. They make us think and make decisions. Challenges help us discover strengths and resources we did not think we had. Challenges help us separate true friends from fair-weather friends.
When you have high expectations for yourself you will use your time more wisely. You have to know where you want to go and how to get there. Time is too valuable to waste on the wrong things. Those who reach their goals in life have learned how to invest their time for the greatest return. Don’t let other people waste your time.
People who have high expectations in life have learned how to set both short term and long term goals. They have learned to set reachable goals. And, they have learned how to measure those goals. A goal is something that has a due date; a time to accomplish, not just to have a good idea. Goals help us stay on track and not waste time.
There is another thing about people who have high expectations. They do expect a lot but they give a lot too. They have learned to help others and receive help from others. And, make no mistake, they are givers more that takers. They have learned that to get what you want; you must help others get what they want. A good employee helps his company or boss become successful and then he is rewarded.
People with high expectations are self-driven, not selfish-driven. There is a big difference. They have learned to go the extra mile and do whatever it takes to get there in a just and right manner. They are willing to be second or third best to get to where they want to be someday. They are willing to work long days and nights to achieve the goals. They are willing to put up with some things that they don’t like in order to get to what they do like. They are people with purpose and a dream.
Where does greatness come from? We are not born great. Where does success come from? We are not born successful. Greatness is developed and success is achieved. Greatness comes because someone with high expectations is not satisfied with just being good. They work harder and make it great. Success is not just achieving something easy but true success is overcoming the odds of failure.
One last thing. People of high expectations have a good self image. They believe in their ability and have learned to take advantage of opportunities whether big of small. They live by a good value system based on honesty and character. They have learned the good principles of the Bible and have applied them to their lives. Remember, life will only give you what you expect and earn. No free lunches.

Your future is not based on the decisions of man, but the mandate of God.
As a Christian, God is our Lord and Master. The decisions of men around us in our country will have consequences and influence the Christians, but we belong to God. Here are some things our country is doing and has become.
We have worshiped other Gods and called it multi-culturalism and tolerance.
We have endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyle.
We have exploited the poor and called it lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn children and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable homicide.
We have failed to execute justice and called it due process.
We have failed to love our neighbor because of the color of their skin and called it maintaining racial purity.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.
We have abused power and called it political savvy.
We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have made the Lord’s Day the biggest shopping and entertainment day of the week and called it free enterprise.
We have ridiculed old-fashioned ideas of our parents and called it enlightenment.
When are the Christians going to wake up to the truth that America is a cesspool of sin? We are reaping a harvest of evil leadership and liberal thinking. We are doomed as a nation unless we repent.
Christian, it is time to stand up and be counted. Be the salt and the light. Many will perish but many can yet be saved. The church of Jesus Christ will be victorious in the end. So, stand firm and remain faithful.

“And whatever you do, whether in Word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Col 3:17)
What does this verse mean to you? Really now, think about it! First of all this is a command from Paul to the church at Colossae. Paul was writing to a church full of young believers, and this verse is the conclusion of his teaching in day three about holy living.
To get the best meaning of this verse go back to chapter 3 verse 12 through 14. Again Paul reminds those people that they are chosen of God, holy and dearly loved. They were to clothe themselves with virtues that bind them together in perfect unity.
These virtues are the very basics of good Christian character; compassion, kindness, humility gentleness, and patience. This is the picture of the Spirit of Christ in a believer. This is why so many Christians do not have peace or get along with their brothers and sisters. Instead of kindness they are driven by selfish ambition, jealousy, or pride.
Then Paul instructs them to bear with each other and forgive whatever grievance you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. The lack of forgiveness is the biggest barrier to the personal growth of Christians. Unforgiving hearts are in violation to the Word of God. Unforgiving hearts are a tool of the devil and it divides families, churches, friends, etc.
So, Paul said, “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” If your heart is right, your mind will follow. As Christ dwells in your heart you become more Christ-like and grow spiritually.
This is why Paul said whatever you do, whether in Word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus. What a great chapter and what great advice and encouragement! If we all, as Christians, could internalize God’s Word and demonstrate in action, daily, these truths, how healthy the body of Christ would be.
The question then is why not? Why do Christians fight and argue? Why do Christians act so stubborn and unchristian? The answer is not that hard to understand. It‘s because we have God’s Word in our heads but not in our hearts. We have too much head knowledge but not enough conviction by the Holy Spirit to control the sinful nature. We will never have harmony in the body until we surrender to God’s authority in all things.
One final thought. Each morning put on that new self which is being renewed in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Whatever you do whether in Word or Deed everyday do it to glorify God. Set your heart and mind on things above. The Bible teaches us that our lives are now hidden in Jesus Christ.
Remember. . . “greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world”. 1 John 4:4. Today decide to decide, and serve God in a new joyful way.
See ya in church, Bud
When God called the church out of the world, to us humans it seemed impossible. Why? Because we are flesh and blood, not spirit. We continue to sin because we make excuses and are weak. We are weak in our commitments and weak in our relationships with one another.
In God’s eyes we are without excuse. He tells us that in His Word. Then why are we what we have become? Why can’t we measure up to God’s standards? I believe there are several reasons and we must look at them honestly.
First, we make excuses that we can’t because we want to. There is no other explanation. He gives us everything we need to live as He has commanded. We have the Word, we have the church and we have the Holy Spirit.
Second, we are influenced by other people. Many times we are influenced by the wrong people who we call friends. But are they really a friend if they separate us from God? They may not be bad people or immoral people, but they are people of influence in our lives. We need strong, Christian people around us to help us to be accountable and disciplined.
Third, we are influenced by the world and its standards. This is a very permissive society. Evil is everywhere, and accepted by us Americans as normal. We are addicts of consumerism and entertainment. Our standards of behavior come from TV and Hollywood, not the Bible! Each generation becomes worse and worse. This influence is very subtle and deceiving. It appeals to our sinful nature and we give in.
Fourth, we are driven by selfishness and greed. These are two things that God hates, yet Christians justify this influence by calling it ambition. It is ambition, but selfish ambition. We are driven to have more at the expense of our spiritual lives, families, church, and all the good things God wants for us. Yes, we need to provide for our own but what is enough?
Selfishness and greed are driven by breaking the tenth commandment, covetousness. Why covetousness? James answers that question. “Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?” We say it’s keeping up with the Jones’ but it’s really selfishness and greed. The motives are wrong and that makes it wrong in God’s eyes.
Finally, we are weak because it is easy. To be strong and spiritual takes good discipline and desire. It’s easy to be a victim. It’s easy to blame the world and others. It’s easy to let satan rule your world. But, if you are going to serve God, it takes discipline. What do you think God thinks when He sees a professing Christian caught up in sin and does not care?
Yes, it is impossible for us humans to be the church without the power and direction from God. However, for those who totally surrender to God’s authority, they can live victorious lives. Weakness, other people, or the world, are no excuses. The Bible teaches us to come out from them and be separate. It’s a choice that each of us makes.
As for me and my house we choose to serve the Lord. How about you?
See ya in church,
Bud
Have you ever wondered why fishermen love to fish so much? There are so many different kinds of ways to fish and different places to fish. There are trout stream fishing, lake fishing, ice fishing, and the list goes on. In every case different bait is used for different kinds of fish. It is a fascinating sport that captures the young and the old.
What is it that makes a committed, lifetime, dye-in-the-wool fisherman? I am not sure it’s the amount of the catch as much as it is the thrill of the catch. Is it the thrill of putting your skill against the instincts of the wild? Or the thrill of the risk taking and being rewarded with the “big one”?
As I see fishermen, they have some special qualities and characteristics that keep them going back fishing again and again. They need as much patience as skill. They need the will to go with the skill, and yes, determination too.
Fishermen don’t get sidetracked from fishing. They are passion driven to say the least. They have a plan and work the plan. Nothing can interfere with their day of fishing.
Smart fishermen keep themselves free to fish. They prioritize their time and schedule their free time. Fishing takes time so they make sure they make the time for their sport.
Smart fishermen stay excited about fishing. What excites you, gets you. It’s the thrill of the catch and the beauty of nature. It’s the excitement of outsmarting the hard ones to catch. It’s the excitement of telling the story of the one that tested you the most. And, the “big one” that got away.
Smart fishermen know where to find the fish. He or she is a constant learner and listener. Fishermen go where the fish can be found. They watch the seasons and the weather. But, the goal is to find and catch fish.
Smart fishing requires a fisherman’s sensitivity to the fish. They know the bait has to be something to entice the fish. They know and learn the habits of the fish they are after. Smart fishing is to know the fish.
Smart fishermen don’t let the weather keep them from fishing. They are committed to the task of fishing. Weather is not an obstacle when fish can be caught. The desire to fish and determination is greater than the unbearable weather. That is why they are fishermen.
Jesus said to Peter, “Come follow me and I will make you a fishers of men”. I believe Peter made a great disciple because he was a smart fisherman. The principles he learned to catch fish made it possible to bring people into the Kingdom of God.
Would the church not be better at soul winning if we studied the characteristic of fishermen? We would be better fishers of men if we applied some of these characteristics to our reaching the lost.
The mission of fishermen is to catch fish. The mission of the church is to win souls. Sometimes I think we have forgotten our mission, but a true fisherman never does.
Take time to reread this article and examine the fisherman again. Maybe it will help you prioritize your life.

Are you a frustrated Christian? Regardless of why you are frustrated, admit it. Are you a discouraged Christian? Regardless of why you are discouraged, get over it.
The world is full of frustrated, discouraged Christians. These are good people. These are talented people. But they are nonproductive because of frustration and discouragement. Some have already left the church and others are staying, although they are becoming bitter.
This is an epidemic that is sweeping the American church. This is being caused by many things and many events. I believe the real reason or cause is because of change. The world is changing, the churches are changing, and we as people are changing. This is producing frustration and discouragement.
We are frustrated because we don’t like what we see and hear as Christians. We become discouraged because we think we can’t do anything about these changes.
Here is the good news, I told you the bad news first. The good news is that you don’t have to change your convictions. You don’t have to like the new music styles, if that is what is frustrating you. You don’t have to stop going to church, although you may have to change churches. You don’t have to stop giving your money as good stewards.
When you stop doing these things, you only hurt yourself. The good news is that Jesus Christ is still Lord and King. He is still in charge of His Kingdom.
The devil has been using frustration and discouragement for centuries. These are his many tools of his trade. When he can use any thing to get Christians to be nonproductive, he wins and the Kingdom loses.
The cure is just what the Bible teaches. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. God can’t help us unless we help ourselves. God can’t bless us unless we stay in His body. And don’t try to tell me you can be a Christian and not go to church! It’s impossible. First, you are not loyal to the Lord’s Supper, and second, you will not tithe and that is part of your obeying God. And, the worst thing is you are now not accountable or under the authority of the church when you don’t go. Uncommitted Christians in God’s eyes are like the fig tree He cursed. The tree was cursed because it became useless.
Its revival time for all Christians everywhere. We either need to get in or get out. God is calling all men (people) to Him to be His Kingdom. In these last days we dare not and will not let satan have victory over us. It’s time to stop making excuses and become the church that Jesus died for.
The word frustrated means: defeated, brought to naught. The word discouraged means: to lessen the enthusiasm, courage, that which destroys courage.
We are not defeated. And, we the church, have not lost our courage. Jesus said, I will never leave you or forsake you.” I still believe that, do you?

I had such a wonderful dream the other night. It was one of those dreams that you never wanted to wake up. The dream was so fulfilling and moving; almost impossible to describe. I dreamed I was worshiping in a perfect church.
The first thing that caught my eye was a special feeling in this place. People were smiling and hugging each other. There was a joy and love so thick you could cut it with a knife! There was no denying it was real. The people’s eyes had a special glint and the smiles were so radiant.
The children were so pleasant too; well mannered saying please and thank you; not running around but well behaved and very respectful. Also, they were dressed so nice; plain and simple and they to had smiles too. You could feel they wanted to be there.
The singing was just marvelous. Everyone sang whether or not they had good voices. What a testimony of what was in their hearts! The music was like I never heard. Sometimes very soft and then it would almost lift you off your seat. The leader had a commanding presence that pulled you into the song. This experience I cannot rightly describe, but it was great.
The preaching was long and powerful. The Word of God came thundering to our ears like a thunder bolt. Each heart was touched by the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The Word was plain and simple yet each listener was stirred to a greater commitment and a heart of thankfulness because Jesus Christ was Lord. There were many “amens” and “praise to the Lord” uttered by the people. Truly this was a worship service. And, at the invitation, the Spirit moved people to many different commitments.
The Lord’s Supper was given after the preaching of the Word. This part of the service was not hurried but very spiritual. There was weeping as the people partook as they remembered the death of Jesus Christ. There were sobs of true repentance for sin as people examined themselves. Then, something even more impressive happened as we concluded the Lord’s Supper. Every Christian vowed and made a commitment to not bring reproach on the Lord’s church this week.
Lastly the offering was received. I never saw anything like it. Everyone was a tither. People were praising the Lord for their blessings this pass week. One testimony after another, and it went on for a very long time. They were truly worshiping and praising God.
I heard neither complaining nor grumbling because of a long service. The church was packed, not an empty seat anywhere. When the service was over, people again began to shake hands and hug. You could just feel the joy in that place.
Then, I woke up. In the darkness I just lay still for a very long time. Then came the “why” question. Is the perfect church just a dream or could we someday be in the perfect church? Why do we have to wait until we get to heaven; why not now?
See ya in church,
Bud
The church of today must find a way to reach our world for Jesus Christ. I did not pick this time in history to live and neither did you. But, here we are and what a challenge we face.
The first challenge we face and maybe the biggest one is the mistrust of religion today. Our religious world has been corrupted by greed and low moral standards. The church is not respected because professing Christians are not committed or consistent in their life-styles. What they preach and what they live are two different messages. Until this changes, we will never overcome this mistrust of religion.
Another thing that the church faces is that unstable homes producing children who grow up without purpose or meaning in their lives. The church will never have an impact in our communities until we can produce good, stable homes. Our greatest contribution to our generation is our children. They are not being taught good work ethics because the parents are not stable. They are not being taught good morals because the parents are setting bad examples. And, the church is just as much the blame as our schools, colleges, etc. We are producing children unprepared for life.
Another challenge the church faces today is the memberships lack of commitment. Half committed Christians cause more damage than good. The church is not evangelizing the lost because the saved are not living victorious lives. Until the professing Christians are convicted of their luke-warm attitude toward their relationship with God, we will have the same results, churches without influence or power over sin. We, the church are a body and only as strong or successful as we are spiritually healthy. I ask a question. Where or what has happened to the great testimonies we heard in the past? Is not God doing any thing in the body of Christ? We are not committed because there is no ownership in two areas. First, ownership of the church; it is my church. Second, taking ownership of personal sins. It’s not always someone else’s fault. When the Christian takes ownership, the churches will grow once more.
There is another challenge facing the church of today, the preaching of the Word. Convictions come through preaching. Today our congregations want to be entertained just so that they will feel good. Only the proclaiming of God’s Word in its fullness can fulfill a hungry soul. Too long we have used substitutes to proclaim the plan of God. The church of Jesus Christ needs to get back to being the church. In season and out of season, preaching the Word.
Our challenges are many today. The church that does not reach out will die out. We know that and pay lip service to the fact. Good programs are worthless without people. We grow because we reach people. Some how, we must overcome our challenges of today. Every generation has had their challenges and we have ours. But, no one seems to be addressing these challenges today. Let’s be honest and look at attendance, tithing, discipleship, and the true fruits of the gospel.
See ya in church,

It is Christmas Day and the children are on the way
Time to share gifts and the grandchildren play.
The food from the kitchen has a heavenly smell
On Christmas we enjoy the moment, all is well.
The family at Christmas can make such a mess
The house was clean, but who would have guessed.
For the noise is coming from every room
Granny is trying to clean with her broom.
But oh when it’s time to open up the gifts and look
Some got clothes, games, toys, and some a book.
The tree is so beautiful regardless of its size
Because under it has the treasured prize.
So we give and don’t need a thing you know
We eat too much and the bathroom we go.
Now it ‘s time for games and talk
Some may go outside for a walk.
But we do it year after year without fail
Make some gifts and others came through the mail.
You see we humans love a party and a trip
When they come to grandparent’s house,
they let her rip.
But who would complain on Christmas Day
Diets and budgets are put away.
Let’s enjoy the family as we rally round the tree
And be thankful for the mess we see.

The question to us as believers is this: Do we trust the Lord and do we believe Him? Now, read this scripture very slowly and digest it.
“Consider it a pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish it’s work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4)
Now, what is James saying to us? We grow by testing and we mature by testing. Only when we completely depend on God are we really open to His leading and direction.
We are praying for a shepherd and God has one for this church. But, it must be God’s will and God’s man. When we become impatient, we will force something to happen that is not God’s will.
If we trust God and believe God, then we must act accordingly. He promised never to leave us or forsake us. Do you believe that? If you do, then we need to let God be God and we be true to Him.
Paul reminds us in the Philippian letter that “my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Our needs are being met. We are being ministered to and shepherded. It’s our wants that have us running ahead of God.
Paul also said, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstance.” The secret to being content is in knowing that God will provide. Our job is to love one another and keep the faith.
Often when disappointed, we ask the question, “why?” That is not a fair question. The question should be “what do you want me to do now, Lord? How can I continue to keep living by faith and building up the Kingdom to bring glory and honor to Jesus Christ?”
Let me suggest two things we all keep doing. First, we continue to pray for God’s will to be done. And, pray sincerely and earnestly. Pray believing and trusting. Pray for patience and guidance. Pray for boldness and wisdom. Pray for one another and yourself. Pray may not change the situation but it will change you.
Second, invite people to your church. Talk to people about positive things, not negative things. Encourage one another in all things. Cling to the good and avoid the bad. Be more faithful that ever before. Volunteer for something to do around the church. Stay busy for God so that satan does not use your idleness to his advantage.
Does God want to bless us? Yes. Does God want to use us? Yes. Are we His children? Yes. Is this His church? Yes. Are there still lost people in our area? Yes. Then let’s get on with the Lord’s business as He wants us to do.
Don’t give satan a stronghold in the life of the church or your own life. Read 2 Corinthians 10:1-18 everyday this week.

What is it that makes a society of people productive, fulfilled and happy? Why are some communities, towns, and countries better places to live than others? You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand these questions.
People make up communities, that are either good communities or bad communities, depending on the homes that produce the people. Homes with good moral standards and good work habits, product after its kind. Homes with bad moral standards and bad work habits, produce after its kind. It’s just that simple.
It’s the homes that produce the future generation of leaders. It’s the homes that establish good core values and character. When the home is no longer responsible for the off spring, a society is domed.
At the root of good homes are good churches. It’s the church that should teach good moral standards and how to live in harmony in the community. Because of good churches you have good schools, good business people, good civic organizations, and just a good place to live.
The government can not do what the home must do. A free society must police and governor itself. Democracy is every bodies business. Evil runs free because we want protected from ourselves. A government driven by freed and selfish ambitions is the product of break down of the home and church in the past. Remember, we know the Biblical teaching, “we reap what we sow”.
We in America need a new vision for the future. It must start at the grass roots of our nation. It must start with the family. Parents must be responsible for the actions of their children. The churches must preach truth and good moral living. Everyone in each community must be responsible for safety, health, and good stewardship of our land.
Our information and education has not made us better people. We are driven by success and selfish ambition at the cost of the home. We are busy but bored. We are wealthy but poor. We are educated but ignorant. We are religious but unspiritual. We are married but live alone. We are parents, but not in control. We are a society of loners who are only fooling ourselves.
Disasters pull us together and then success drives us apart. The problem is that our country is in a crisis but no one will admit it. We need delivered from ourselves.
The solution is simple yet complex. We need leadership that may not be popular but will do what needs to be done. In one year’s time each town could clean up corruption and evil that exists among them. Put the law back in the hands of the local people. Speed up the court system and bring back the public stocks. There is no fear or shame today for wrong doing. Without severe, swift punishment, crime goes on as usual.
The homes must be able to discipline and punish their children. The schools must become able to discipline and punish wrong doing. The churches must become more than a social gathering. Without the fear of God, there is no true faith and discipline.
You wonder if all this is possible? Yes, America could be great again if we do what made America great in the first place.
See ya in church,
Bud
Jesus last command to His disciples was “go and make disciples.” Math 28:19
It was a serious command for the disciples of His day and for the disciples of today. But I have a question. Can you truly be a disciple if you are not making other disciples? Are you really following this command if you are only a disciple in name? Can a church be the church without making disciples?
You can not be a Christian until you become one. You can talk about it, read about it, fellowship with Christians, but until you become a Christian you are not a biblical Christian.
Disciples are made not born. Yes, they are born again, but you know what I mean. A boy born on the farm is no guarantee he will be a farmer. The son of a doctor does not mean he will be a doctor. And just because a person confesses Christ as Savior doe not mean they are automatically disciples. Discipleship is to go into training. Trained in the Word, trained in self-discipline, trained to have a quiet time, and equipped to train others.
Paul’s words in II Timothy 2:2 states it perfectly. “And the things you have heard me say in the presents of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”
Jesus said, “A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher. Luke 6:40. Growing spiritually is not automatic but premeditated. There must be desire, commitment, and finally, fruit.
There is an old saying, that information without expression brings frustration. I believe many professing Christians are frustrated and backsliding today, not from the lack of information, but the lack of expression. They can’t put what they learn and hear into everyday life. They have not been trained for the warfare and battles that Christians receive from the world.
We go to church and sing beautiful inspiring songs, have prayers of compassion, hear wonderfully prepared sermons, yet lead ugly unchristian lives. The church is blighted with every sin in the world and we call it normal. But, it is not normal. We are to live victorious lives above sin and temptation. If we are no different that the world, why call ourselves Christians at all?
God is calling the church to get back to the very basics of Christ’s teaching. We must come back under His authority first. There needs to be much repentance for our past conduct and surrendering to His will for our lives. Then, and only then, is true discipleship possible. Discipleship is not just teaching lessons but holding each other accountable for actions. There in lies the problem. No accountability.
Discipleship is not a program but a process. The process of transforming the useless to useful. The process of going from Savior to Lordship. The process of building the Kingdom, not the ministry. The process that Jesus taught and used when He was on this earth. We don’t need new ideas, but new inspiration and dedication.

The call went out
To all the land
Diamond Willow had a need
God had a plan
Come over to our place
And help us build again
We need the duplex
For our friends
The people came from all around
They put the foundation down
Then the sides and the top
People work together and never stopped
Now Sandy has a home
A place to pray and not roam
To live and work in this place
The call to Jesus for his race
To answer the call
They came again
Because Jesus is our friend
Some day we’ll do it again
Because you came
The job is done
To work together
Is so much fun
May the Lord bless you all
Because you answered the call
Today we hit the road once more
To do this thing was no big chore
So pack up and get on the bus
It’s a joy, and not a cuss
You have all been great
Get on that bus, don’t be late
It’s home we go, a job well done
All will say “it was fun”
For many days to come,
the stories we’ll tell
Traveling together has been swell
So go home and plan your next trip
Another mission trip to take
Where ever God will call you
He will show you what to do
Tell your church and all your friends
How God did it again
You are now a missionary for sure
The blessings you received, and more
So praise your god and sing a song
Be sure next year to come along
To some mission trip far away
To serve your Lord, our debt to pay
Bud
It was early in the morning
And the sun was yet to rise
When God said to our ladies
I have a surprise
Today you will serve me
In a very special way
Lift up your heads and pray
For I want to bless you today
So wake up now my little darlings
Put away all your childish fears
For I am with you to the end
You come to serve your King again
Good morning all, here is the call
Let God love and bless you
For He is love and grace
His spirit is in this place
Tomorrow we will be homeward bound
The work is done and
New friends we have made
The building is under roof
Another miracle, it’s God’s proof
So lift up your heads and sing
God has done another wonderful thing
You are a part of a mighty team
Work for Jesus is our theme
Bud
Did you bring excuses or fruit
Did you bring a guest or did you forget?
Did you bring praise or criticism?
Did you bring your joy or unhappiness?
Did you bring your tithe or just a tip?
Did you bring your family or come by yourself?
Did you bring a growing quiet time or prayerlessness?
Did you bring an expectant heart or discouragement?
Did you bring your gifts to use or use someone else’s?
Did you bring a prayed up life or a prayerless one?
Did you bring a teachable spirit or a rebellious one?
Did you bring a faithful heart or a feeble one?
Did you bring a worshiper to worship or come to be entertained?
Did you bring an open mind or a closed one?
The word action tells it all.
It is the opposite of do-nothing.
Keys for Christians to be people of action.
1. To be a person of action you must have
convictions.
2. To be a person of action you must have a
deep sense of mission and purpose.
3. You must stay excited about your
objectives and goals.
4. You must believe in the power of God for
all help.
5. Develop a fearlessness for the cause of
God and things that are right.
6. Develop well structured plans for
accomplishments.
7. Set high standards for your personal life.
8. Set deadlines for completion of Goals.
(Don’t be afraid to change it.)
9. Try to eliminate negativeness from your
vocabulary.
10. Pray and trust God for wisdom and power.
Bud Yoder
The first danger is that churches get the idea that evangelism is left only to called evangelists.
The second danger is that churches will fail to acknowledge the importance of evangelism and evangelists.
The third danger is that evangelism may be tied to methods that are out dated.
The world or the culture is changing fast in America. I feel there is a real danger of programs replacing pure, raw evangelism.
The first reason I state is that churches think, or could begin to think, only evangelists can evangelize. This is just not true. We believe and teach the priesthood of all believers. We teach disciples to be disciple-makers. Salvation to the masses does not come without teaching and presenting God’s Word. This is the ministry of the whole body of Christ, not just evangelists.
The second danger would be that churches may fail to understand God’s purpose for evangelists and evangelism. Jesus gave the church the ministry of winning the lost. Evangelists have a special gift of winning people to the Lord. Evangelism is the message of the church. Without winning people to Christ, the church will die out as the older members die.
The third and maybe the greatest danger may be out dated methods. But, the message is still Jesus saves, Jesus saves. When churches depend on programs and busyness, and not the preaching of repentance and salvation, we are doomed.
The church is not a social club, but the body of Christ and our purpose is to redeem a lost and dying people to God through Jesus Christ.
In the Old Testament the prophets were commanded to sound the alarm. We, who have seen so many changes in the culture and the church, need to sound the alarm. All changes are not bad, and all changes are not good. What is good is the church producing transformed lives. Lives that are true disciples and ambassadors for Christ. Methods are bound to change, but the message is still a message of hope and salvation.
There is a message today being preached in liberal churches that it’s more important how you live, than the convictions you have. This is just not what God’s Word teaches. It’s convictions that bring people to repentance and salvation.
These teachings are also filtering into our Christian churches. The desire to be big mega churches has blinded the eyes of preachers who believe bigger is better. I believe we must grow but by the power of God, not deception.
We cannot go back to the old days and old ways, but we can still be true to God’s Word in new days. The church of Jesus Christ is the greatest thing on this earth. Let’s keep her to be pure and growing God’s way.
See ya in church,
Bud
1. Pray for ways God can use you in his kingdom.
2. Be early to any service or meetings you attend, this sends a message of anticipation.
Bring and invite others to your church.
3. Be a tither and giver so that God can bless you. Invest in God’s kingdom Your money follows your heart.
4. Volunteer when you see a need. God’s army is a volunteer army
5. Be an encourager to everyone. Kindness builds lives and relationships
6. Join a small group or start one. Get Connected to the body of Christ. We grow bigger by growing smaller.
7. Find ways to help others during the week. Be a load lifter.
8. Be positive about your church. Not every program or everything is for you, but everything is for God the body.
9. Be the best at whatever God has entrusted you with in his kingdom. Remember, we are all part of the whole.
10. Stay healthy spiritually. Churches grow because they are healthy and they produce healthy people.
Church growth is everyone’s business.
The Ten Best Ways to Kill the Church
1. Never volunteer for anything. Then you can criticize others because you didn’t do it.
2. Never invite or bring others to the church. That’s the preachers job anyway.
3. Never be on time, be late if possible to everything. Then you can see who is there when you arrive and others will notice you and be distracted.
4. Never give anyone credit for doing anything right. Complain always about everything, then people will know who you are.
5. Never tithe to the church. Give as little as possible, that way the church won’t waste your money.
6. Never agree to any changes. Insist every thing be done the same as it always has. Let everyone know this is how you feel about change.
7. Never allow anyone to take your parking spot or regular seat, remind people how long you have had them!
8. Never sing during worship. That way the worship leader will get the message of how you feel about the music.
9. Never come to church except Sunday mornings.
10. Never join a small group or class of any kind. Let others know you are spiritual enough.
Bud
People can be religious without being born again. To the world they appear to be godly people. It’s sad but true. On the other hand people who have true salvation will always be noticed, as born again, because of the fruit they bear.
Religion satisfies man’s mind.
Salvation satisfies man’s soul.
Religion puts on its best manners on Sunday, or when around other people.
Salvation believes itself everyday and everywhere, even when alone.
Religion is man working as hard as he can for God. Salvation is God working as hard as he can for man. Religion will make a man do a lot of things he doesn’t really want to do.
Salvation will make a man do only what he should do, because it’s the desire of his heart.
A man works on his religion.
Salvation works on a man.
Religion will cause a man to do good.
Salvation causes a man to be good and do good as well.
Religion will make a person look beautiful to others.
Salvation will make a person look beautiful to God.
Religion is concerned with showing the “Fruit of the Spirit”.
Salvation is concerned with possessing the “Fruit of the Spirit”.
(One will then automatically produce the “Fruit of the Spirit”).
Religion makes a man more pleased with himself than with God.
Salvation makes a man pleased with God, and never completely with self.
Religion is powered by love of self.
Salvation is powered by the love of God.
Religion allows a person to worry about how people are treating him.
Salvation causes a man to be concerned about how he is treating others.
Religion from the beginning of time, is what man has been trying to offer to God.
Salvation is what God, since time began, has been trying to offer to man.
Religion comes from the earth (man).
Salvation comes down from heaven (God).
Religion allows a man to compare himself with others and then settle down in a cozy little nest of self-satisfaction.
Salvation demands a man to compare himself with Jesus Christ, the model man, and then to pursue the never ending struggle to measure up to Jesus Christ.
Religion will make a man give away $1000.00 which he didn’t need anyway, because he can write it off of his taxes.
Salvation will make a man give away his last $10.00 to someone in need, because it’s a joy to give.
As you see religion is empty and a cheap imitation of the real thing, true salvation. To get religion you give up certain things. To get true, real, transforming salvation from God, which is free, you give up everything. And, you get everything you will ever need.
To be truly born again brings joy and peace. Real salvation is what Jesus Christ died for, and we live for. If we focus on religion we fail, but if we focus on God and His Word, we become victorious.

I love the church. The body of Christ. Ever since I have been a Christian, the church has been a true joy for me. Even in the dark times in my life, and there have been a few, the church was always a safe haven for me.
But churches both grow and die. This to me is very sad, and there are reasons for this. So, I am going to point out some things to you that I believe are the keys to growing churches.
Just like a live plant or animal, or human being, the church must be healthy. Healthy things grow, diseased things die. The church is alive and exciting because we are either healthy or boring and drab because we are sick.
We, the church, like people, can get over little problems like the common cold. We don’t feel too good, but it will pass and things will get back to normal. However, it’s the terminal disease we fear most. People get cancer and churches get just as serious a problem. Selfishness, pride, poor leadership, and doctrinal differences can be terminal diseases.
If we know these things, then what is a good diet for a healthy church? How can she thrive and be alive and grow?
Churches grow who have great fellowship. By that I mean the people love each other and truly love to be together. They worship together, they eat together, they study together, they play together, they pray together, and they rejoice or cry together. There is that true feeling of belonging. This is my church and this is my family. That is what I mean by fellowship.
The health of the church is seen in the people growing deeper thru Bible study and discipleship. They are healthy because they are in the Word and are being challenged to be accountable. They are living out the great commission, not just paying lip service. Undiscipled believers are not biblical.
Of course we grow healthy thru strong, meaningful worship, praise, prayer, and preaching. Praise, because of who God is, not who we are. Prayer, because we need to communicate with our creator. And, preaching, because we need to hear God calling us higher and exhorted to live above sin. Nothing takes the place of hearing from God’s Word.
It is impossible to be a healthy church unless you are growing larger through evangelism. It is the nature and purpose of the church to seek and save the lost. That is why Jesus came and died. Those that don’t evangelize fossilize and die.
Because the church is healthy through fellowship, discipleship, worship, and evangelism, her ministries will broaden. All groups, youth groups, mission trips, and all kinds of new ministries will be born. All healthy churches have this in common! Their problems decrease and their ministries increase.
Yes, God wants His church to grow and I do too. How about you? Let’s help her grow.
See ya in church,
Bud
When Christ returns, and He will, what will He find? Faith or frustration? Peace or war? Love or hate? The evangelizing church or the church that is dead spiritually? These are hard but important questions.
When the church is led and controlled by man not the Holy Spirit, she will die. Oh, there will be groups of people who call themselves the church, but they are not Christ’s body. They have abandoned the doctrines of salvation. They have built large buildings and gathered thousands, but they are not Christ’s body. False teachers under the flag of Christianity are leading thousands to damnation.
How could this happen? Man is rebellious by nature. He wants to be in control of his destiny. Strong teachers and good speakers have deceived the people into believing lies. These teachers and preachers are liberal in their convictions and ignore the authority of the Bible. They are not Spirit led but flesh led.
Our generation is not the first to stray away from God. History records time and again that nations obey God and prosper, or disobey God and perish. But now we are in the end times. The end of the ages is near. God has to be getting impatient with a world of rebellious, unthankful, unholy, disobedient, sinful people who call themselves the church but deny God, who is our creator.
We, the church are in denial. And, the American church is the one that should be leading the way of salvation, instead, we are sin-ridden and spiritually barren. Our prosperity has blinded us to truth and we have lost compassion for the lost. Church to most Americans is just a Sunday thing with no strings attached. We have grown cold and indifferent. The gospel no longer convicts us of sin and the need to evangelize the world. We have become man-worshipers not God-worshipers.
But, I believe it is not too late. When the people in the past cried out to God with repentant hearts He responded and forgave them. He is still a loving God who loves His creation and wishes no one to perish. He has done His part, now we Americans must do our part for reconciliation.
Like Nineveh of old, we need revival. The whole nation must repent and return to the authority of God. Without true revival our nation stands condemned.
The churches must take the lead, or we are doomed. We must reach with Holy Spirit power, supported by honest prayer and repentant hearts. Our preaching has become weak because our preachers have more fear of the people than God. My prayer is for God fearing men to be raised up in our churches who have only one mission. To lead the people back to God.
The Christians today are no different than our pagan world. There are just as many divorces, as many abortions, as much unfaithfulness in marriage, premarital sex, youth pregnancy, and the list goes on and on. Where is the separation and holiness? Where are the transformed lives?
We will not change directions until we admit failure and repent. The time is now and the time is short.
See ya in church,
Bud
Someday some way I would like to see the American people come to their senses. Now I am addressing this to us as a nation, people of America.
I would like to somehow in an article, a sermon, in public somewhere, to be able to impress on our minds just how far from God we have strayed. We were a God fearing, God obeying, God glorifying nation at one time. But we have strayed big time.
Daniel Webster put it best; “If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper. But if we and our posterity neglect its instructions and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury our glory in obscurity.”
It will take more than 9-11 to wake this country out of our coma. We are so success-driven that our common sense is deadened by our selfishness and sinfulness. Any nation or people in all of history who first knew God and obeyed Him, and rebelled by ignoring His authority, was soon destroyed.
Moses said it best in Deut. 30:15-17.
“See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and keep His commands, decrees and laws, then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
But if your heart turns away and you are not confident, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed.”
And we know from history this is exactly what happened. After Moses and Joshua died, the people became rebellious and became idol worshipers. It only took one generation for this to happen.
Now what about America? Are we stupid or what? Do we not know the truth? What has happened to our faith that we are so easily deceived? Have we not become idol worshipers? An idol is anything that you love more than God and it separates you from God.
The way to conquer a nation or people is to destroy its value and belief system. God will not honor or bless a nation who does not honor Him. We, in America, are doomed with all other nations in history who rebelled against God. It’s time we wake up before God shakes us up.
The hope of America can and must start in our churches. Not until our preaching produces conviction of sin will change come. We are more concerned about money and numbers, than salvation. The politicians and Hollywood are not destroying America. (They are being used by the devil to help do it.) But it’s the lukewarm, non-convicted professing Christians who are living lives just like pagan America.
Unless, America as a nation repents, she is lost. Oh yes, there are still faithful Christians in America, but they are becoming fewer and fewer. It’s time for a national revival, a spiritual awakening, a Holy Ghost convicting movement, calling America back to God. I pray God will raise up someone, somewhere with a voice from God, to the sinful, pagan, people who will repent before it is too late!
See ya in church,
Bud

Christian Church at Cogan Station
I had a sermon once, entitled, “Has America lost her way?” But, the sermon was really about the American Church. The church, may be, of the end time.
What do you think it will take for the American Church to again be a kingdom builder not just an attendance raiser?
The psalmist said, “restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me.” psalm51:12
The psalmist goes on to say what would happen. “Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.” psalm 51:13
What is the psalmist saying? Simply that Kingdom People reflect the joy of God’s salvation to a rebellious world. They see the victory and peace that only God can bring. Until that happens we are just kidding ourselves with programs and gimmicks.
As a church, we are to win our generation and prepare and equip the next generation. This will not happen until we have a world view of evangelism. Not until we produce transformed disciple who can disciple others to a faithful and submissive life to Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ gave the masses loaves and fishes, but His messages were not ministry-building, but kingdom building. He made demands of people if they were to be in His kingdom. His message was not about keeping them but saving them, and there is a difference We cannot change the masses by making them faith partners, but they must become disciples.
The church needs to take a lesson from the world. The world is lost as far as salvation is concerned but they are not standing still. They are not waiting. They may be hurting and in turmoil but they know what they want. The terrorists are willing to die for their movement. The gay rights people are very aggressive and they are unashamed. The abortionist people drive it down our throats. The liberals out vote us and out flank us in elections.
But, what are the Christians doing? We are waiting for the rapture. God will deliver us. God will save us. So, we huddle every Lord’s day in our safe building and condemn the world for doing what they want and we play it safe. But the truth is, we are selfish, isolated, and incompetent.
We are plugged into the American Church with fads. How many different fads have been the answer to church growth in the last 50 years. The bus ministry, TV ministry, the mega church, and all kinds of technology, new books and tapes from TV preachers who market their wares. “Three principles for success” or “five principles for receiving your harvest.”
Yet, has any of this changed America? You know it hasn’t. It just helps take away some of our guilt while we wait. Not only are we not preparing the next generation but we have failed ours.
The true Kingdom Church of our day must get back to preaching truth, not to entertain, but to transform people who learn it, love it, and live the true gospel.
See ya in church, Bud
How long will God wait on the American church to return to Him? God is sovereign and He must be Lord of all or He is not Lord at all.
Jesus Christ gave the church the birthed specific instruction. Math 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples.” What , as churches, do we not understand about that command? Without the transforming power of change that only comes thru true discipleship, the churches just become social gatherings of people with common interests. They want to be religious but not transformed. They become dabblers not disciples.
I believe the day is coming when people will be made to say what Ezekiel forecast, “they will know that I am the Lord.” Ezekiel 39:6.
Everything we hear today in preaching, books, religious TV, and etc, is about what man is and his happiness and prosperity. The churches are falling into the trap of the devil by elevating man and humanizing God. This will have a destructive affect on the future church and future generations.
The question is: Are we willing to put our complete trust in God’s sovereignty? Are we willing to submit to God’s Word and His authority? Are we, the church, willing to surrender the church to God?
These are hard questions that need some answers. The Holy Spirit is the power of God, not technology. The Word of God is still sharper than a two edged sword. Ask yourself this question; is God alive and well in your life? Are you growing spiritually and serving a living God? Name one great thing you have seen God do in the last year.
These are gut wrenching questions that I believe the great preacher Paul would ask us today. The church must maintain higher standards then the world. We will never influence a lost and dying world until they see the super natural in the Christians.
I think Paul’s advice to young Timothy is good advice for the church today:
2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the Word: be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their eyes away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of the ministry.”
Jesus said, “Ye shall know them by their fruit.” The church must always ask and keep asking what kind of fruit are we producing? It’s God’s desire to bless His church. But, the key is that it must be His church not man’s.
Think on these things. Are you a true disciple of Jesus Christ? Are you producing other disciples or just dabbling?

When God opens doors for people to advance in their Christian walk, satan is always right there to try to close the door. He is a master of deception and diversions. He clouds up the issues God has just made clear.
The secret is to keep your eyes on Jesus and your heart in tune with the Word. We become confused and discouraged because we believe satan’s lies. We doubt when we should advance. We worry when we should rejoice. We panic when we should pray, and the result is that opportunities pass us by because of fear, not faith.
The church will never be the victorious battle-winning people here on earth until we turn loose of fear. The timid and fearful never advance the kingdom of God. Those who advance the kingdom are movers and shakers, who are risk-takers. They are driven by a consuming desire to be faithful and obedient to God’s Word. They are compelled by God’s love, and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Churches talk all the time about growing in number and spiritually. But it doesn’t happen. Why? Because, to grow, you must move out of tradition and the comfort zones. Growing churches are different and exciting. They are not man-driven, but God-called, directed and empowered.
We go to church growth seminars and visit growing churches, but we stay the same. Why? Because we learn how to grow, but not why we need to grow. When the why is not learned, the growth never comes. We learn and advocate programs but don’t motivate the people. People who are not spiritually motivated will never completely obey God.
Our heroes of the Bible were motivated. Paul, Moses, Joshua, Daniel, Peter, etc. They were able to do the impossible because they believed God. They believed God’s word, they believed God’s promises, and they believed in God’s timing.
The churches today do not need more programs, we need more motivation. Motivated to act on God’s Word, not just learn it. Motivated to pray and ask God for big assignments. Motivated to reach the unreachable with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Not entertain people but convict people of sin. Motivated people are unstoppable, not easily discouraged, not selfish, nor are they worried what people will think. They are doers of the Word.
What could God do in our community with 100 committed God-fearing men and women who refuse to believe negative things about our opportunities?
The world will step aside for people who are like that. Motivated, inspired, God-fearing people are on a mission. How long must we keep God waiting for this group of people to step up and say “here am I Lord, send me”?
That’s the church I dream about.

Why is failure so threatening to so many Christians?
Please understand that failure in not final, unless you give up. Failure is a great teacher and preparer for success.
Christians usually don’t fail for the lack of opportunities or information, but they fail because they give up. They stop trying and become discouraged. They look to the wrong sources for help or strength. The Biblical term is that they “become entangled in the world,” then, bad things happen.
We, in America, have too many choices. We are overwhelmed with choices. We drown in choices. We are out of control in our desires for more, more, more. We are obsessed with bigger, better, quicker, faster, and more. Our hunger for technology is driving us crazy with greed and selfish ambition. Our hunger for more is like a bottomless pit, and the sad part is that we know it.
Things and stuff will not make us happy anymore than success will build our character. When God saves us, and brings us into the Kingdom, we have trouble letting go of the world and its ways. God delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt but could not get Egypt out of them. We have the same problem. Instead of trusting God and living to please Him. Christians trust the world more, then we fail.
The fruit of these failures show up in children, our family and marriage, business dealings, church life, our stewardship and financial dealings, relations with other people and our commitment. Careers become more important than spirituality.
Success becomes more important than commitment to God. Money is more important than relationships. Now, I ask you, is this not failure in God’s eyes?
The greatest test while we are on this earth is not how much money we make, or the house we live in, but who we are in God’s eyes. The test is whether we can put God before the flesh. Whether we can walk upright in a sin-sick society. Whether our faith is stronger than the temptations of this world. Too many professing Christians fail this test, but in the world’s eyes are very successful.
Joshua, in the Old Testament, had it right. He knew the Hebrews would be tested in Canaan, and he warned them. He also said, “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” And he did all his life. But look in the book of Judges. What happened to most of the people? They failed the test and served other gods.
Here are two questions for you to think about:
Will the church of the future, in our liberal society, be committed to seeking the Lord’s Will and the members committed to living lives that morally and spiritually meet God’s Biblical standards?
Will the church remain loyal to the Lord at any cost?
If the answer is yes, then how will we prepare the next generation? What will the focus and teachings be? Who will lead the fight against those who would destroy Christ’s church? Think on these things. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.
See ya in church,
Bud
What kind of a world would it be without God? A world ruled by power not by what is moral and good. A world where only the crooks and the strongest survive.
Yet, is this not what is happening in our world today? God in government or education is a thing of the past. A world where prayer before football or baseball games is forbidden in our schools. However, auto racing still has prayer to begin the big races. There is something wrong with this picture. Has our intelligence made us better or worse spiritually?
If the current trend in America continues, we will soon be a Godless nation, but still religious. We tolerate all kinds of cults and false religions but not the true religion of the true God. Our founding fathers based our democracy on the Bible truths and principles. To abandon these truths and principles, allows our America, as we know it, to disappear. Our future then as a nation is as predictable as was the Roman Empire or any other nation that forsook God.
“The fool says in his heart, there is no God, they are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good. God looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. Everyone has turned away, they have together became corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. Will the evil doers never learn, those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on God? There they were, overwhelmed with dread, where there was nothing to dread. God scattered the bones of those who attacked you; you put them to shame, for God despised them.” Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores the fortunes of His people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.” (Psalm 53)
When God restores the fortunes of His people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.” (Psalm 53) Oh that God would restore the salvation of America and deliver us from the hands of wicked, corrupt politicians and leaders.
God would do this if the American people would repent and be fully committed to God. It will take a national revival. Idols must be broken down, and false religions no longer tolerated. We are being consumed by greed and selfish ambition. We are being deceived by thinking, as a nation, that we can ignore God and survive. Each generation is becoming more and more wicked and pagan.
The purpose of this article is not to point out how bad the world is, but to see the need for commitment and truth from the Christians. We are the salt and light, the only hope for a dark and dying world.
God has, in the past, delivered nations that were for from Him, when they repented and called on His name, and He would again. But as a nation, we need to repent.
So what can we do? Pray, preach, teach, disciple, and win as many people
as possible to God’s Kingdom. Don’t give up hope or neglect your salvation.

As born again Christians, God has called us to serve Him. We are Kingdom people, with a Kingdom responsibility to carry out the commands of our King.
The following list are the things we are called to do.
Worship — God in Spirit and in Truth.
Pray — Continually through Jesus Christ
Preach — The Good News
Teach — The Truth in love
Share — My blessings with others
Tithe — 10% to God
Disciple — All nations
Witness — To everyone in the lost world
Serve — Others
Believe — The Word of God
Repent — Of all Sin
Confess — Jesus as Lord and Savior
Follow — The teachings of Jesus Christ
Submit — To God’s authority
Love — One another
Suffer — For the cause of Christ
Surrender — To the Will of the Father
Stand — As a Christian soldier
Resist — The devil and his schemes
Cleave — To spouse and Jesus Christ
Salvation — What God has for me
Ask — And you will receive
Knock — And it shall be opened to you
Forgive — As you are forgiven
Baptized — For the remission of sins
Cheerfulness — Should be the attitude of every Christian
Know — What God’s Word teaches
Go — Tell others around the world
We are called to more than just come to church on the Lord’s Day. We are to obey and demonstrate to the world the love of God. Then we are the true church in action, the light on a hill, the salt of the earth.
If we practice all the things above, the church does not become:
A place of jealousy-but joy
A place of fear-but faith
A place of power-but God’s presence
A place of self-serving-but God serving
A place of disappointment-but glorious experience
A place of resentment –but of contentment
A place of rumors– but relationships
A place of pain-but plenty
The gathering of the church should be the happiest most exciting time of the week. To love and be loved. To rejoice and share the joy with others is the greatest witness of all.
The church is God’s body and each believer must find their place in the body and help the body function as God intended the body to be.
See ya in church,

Christian people want to see the churches growing. We want to see people coming to Christ, to have them listen, to confess sins, and surrender to the authority of Jesus Christ.
The modern church continues to try new ways to reach people. We have become seeker sensitive entertainment centers, instead of being the church. Instead of producing disciples and servants we are producing people who want to be Christians without commitment or responsibilities.
We, in the church, are great for ignoring history and always believing something new is best. We know that without God’s authority the church is powerless and unproductive.
Take the case of Asa's reform in the old testament. Listen to these words from II Chron. 15:3,4. “For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach and without the law. But in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought Him, and He was found by him.”
Now when Asa was told this was the spiritual problem for Israel, then he acted quickly and effectively. He did this through very important things that changed the people and bought them back to God. They had revival. First, “he took courage” and removed the detestable idols from the whole land. Second, he repaired the altar of the Lord that was in front of the Lord’s temple. Third, he assembled all the people and had them enter into a covenant with the Lord. The covenant was to seek the Lord with all their heart and soul.
All Judah rejoiced about the oath because they had sworn it wholeheartedly. They sought God eagerly, and He was found by them. So the Lord gave them rest on every side.
If God is our problem in America, then only God is our solution. America could be on the verge of a third great awakening. But, it will not come as long as people are more concerned about the economy than salvation and obedience to God. Remember, God will not be mocked or ignored. The scriptures teach: “The Lord is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.” II Chron. 15:2.
Worship is about who God is not who we are. This country is starving to death for the lack of the Word of God. People learn the Word because we teach. People learn the Word because they hunger and thirst for it. People learn the Word because they understand the value and purpose for their lives.
I am not against reading and studying books men write, but not in place of reading and teaching the Bible. We know that when people get away from God’s Word they soon get away from God.
It’s not how many people come to church, it’s how many people leave church to serve God.
The purpose of this article is to encourage you and everyone else to get in God’s Word and have a good daily diet of His Word. If we are people of the Bible, then we must know and understand what God’s Word says.
See ya in church,
Bud
When the Lord calls a person to come to Him. He wants us to come and die. Die to self and the world, and come alive in Jesus Christ. It’s a new life with a new purpose when God calls and we come to Him.
God’s call is to come out of darkness and come out of the world. We must live in the world but we are not a part of it. Our call is to become a part of God’s Kingdom here on earth, to serve and worship, and to glorify our Lord.
God calls us through His Word. This is why preaching of His Word is so important. God called Moses through a burning bush but he calls us through the Gospel. God called Gideon when he was hiding, through an angel, but God calls us by His Word. God called Paul on the Damascus road by the light, which was Jesus, but He calls us by His Word, to come confess, to be repentant, and be baptized for the remission of our sins, and to live for Him.
The power of the Word brings conviction. A person can be convicted but never converted. But if you are truly converted you were first convicted. The preaching of the word produces conviction and conviction produces conversion. Many people believe there is a God, but don’t believe God’s message so they are never convicted or converted.
The world of darkness is hungry for the truth. The world is empty and unfulfilled and their real need is for Jesus Christ. The world with its power, greed, and selfishness cannot take the place of a relationship with God. Man needs God more than God needs man. But, because God first loved us, we need to love Him in return.
If the world is hungry, why does it refuse God’s love? There are as many excuses as there are people. People are too busy, or they are too independent, or churches just want your money, or there are too many hypocrites in the church, and on and on it goes. But, the real reason is that people do not want to be under God’s rule and authority. People have a rebellious spirit that is driven by greed and selfishness. This can work for them until they face the fact that they are going to die. Then there is no hope in the things they lived for all their lives.
The call of God is one of hope and assurance. We can have peace and joy because we prepare for eternity with God not in punishment. Just because people say, “I don’t believe there is a heaven or hell does not change the truth.” To ignore God and His teachings is to commit spiritual suicide. God will not inflict His will on man while we live on this earth. Man has the opportunity to accept or reject Him. But when we die, God does control where we will spend eternity. Put your life under His authority here on earth and spend eternity in paradise. Or live without God here on earth and you’ll live without God in eternity, but be in eternal punishment.
God is calling daily for sinners to come home. To repent and turn to Him. Give up your idols and pride. Surrender your life and live. There is no reason for anyone to perish. That is not God’s plan. But, we have a choice. Life on this earth is short and eternity is forever.
Think on these things. If you are saved, praise the Lord! Share your faith with someone else. If you are not saved, take the step today to obey God’s call.
See ya in church,
Bud
What a great country is America! Our modern society has and continues to lead the world in prosperity, education, science, and development. We have the best roads in the world, our people have larger homes, we have greater air travel, we have it all. Not just a TV in every home but several TV’s, not just a car for every family but cars, and our luxuries are too numerous to count.
Yet, in all of this splendor and success, America has also become something else. We have become a “Pagan Paradise.” Sexual lust is toasted, wined, and dined. Those who reject God and His teaching are pagans according to God’s Word. Because of our free speech and free press, we have become a paradise for pagans. A nation driven by lust for power and selfish ambition.
“15Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For everything in the world– the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does,- come not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God, lives forever.” 1 John 2:15-17
Entertainment and politics set the moral standards for our country, not the churches. The future is predictable for America. The beginning of the end started when God was put out of the court houses and school houses. That happened so the pagans could control our courts and the minds of our children.
We are a country in decline and no one wants to admit it or address it.
But, this is not something new. Every great nation when they rejected God and pagan worship was practiced, eventually was destroyed. Godless, rebellious people eventually destroy themselves. And unless revival comes to America, we are doomed also. Success and prosperity has blinded our eyes and stopped up our ears so that we do not hear from God.
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit will reap eternal life.” Gal 6:7-8
So, what should we do? Just give up? No! We who are Christians must continue to worship, pray, and rescue people from darkness. We must disciple and teach wherever and whenever we can. True repentance is a sinner renouncing their rebellion and deciding to submit to God’s Will.
The tendency now as a church in this “Pagan Paradise” is to become liberals and lower the Biblical standards God sets down for His church. For a Christian to survive in this pagan driven society it will take more than believing in God. It’s going to take dedication, determination, and 100% commitment to Jesus Christ and His authority. The half-hearted, lukewarm, almost committed will not make it. Sin begets sin, pagans beget pagans, liberals beget liberals, etc.
Now is the hour for Christians to stand up and be counted.

Revival always begins with burdens. Content people never experience a God-driven revival. Revival is always the result of God’s people praying and confessing sins. Revival comes when God’s people respond to God’s Word and authority.
However, unless revival produces true repentance in the hearts of God’s people, the world will never be affected. Revival is the work of God in the hearts of His people.
Knowing these things, we, as a church must seek God for revival this week. The evangelist will be prepared, but my question is: are we prepared to receive from God and obey His message of revival?
Here are some questions to ask yourself and to pray about.
1. Will I be committed to every night of revival?
2. What in my life does God need to change?
3. What must I seek from God during this
revival?
4. Do I fear God?
5. What am I doing to build up the Kingdom of
God?
6. Am I guiding people in the path of
righteousness through the model of my life?
7. Am I willing to let God do whatever He wants
in my life?
8. Am I willing to submit to the refiner’s fire
personally for cleansing and purification?
9. Will I surrender my agenda to God’s agenda?
10. Will I let God give me a new heart and a new
start in this week of revival?
Revival only comes when we surrender the church to God and our lives with it. If this is your prayer and wish for revival, prepare your minds and lives for action.
In Jeremiah 8:5,7 God came to His people and here is what He found.
1. They had turned away from Him.
2. They did not repent of wickedness.
3. They clung to deceit.
4. They each did what they wanted.
5. They refused to return.
6. They did not know God’s judgments
(requirements).
7. They did not say what was right.
Do any of these kinds of behaviors sound familiar today? You know they do. This is why we need revival. Revival occurs when God calls his people to repentance and they do it. Revival is moving from where you are to where God wants you to be.
Palms 51:17 “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God you will not despise.”

It's Possible To Lose What You Have
It's possible to lose your crown.
Romans 3:11 “I am coming soon. Hold on to what
you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
It's possible to lose your share in the holy city and the tree of life.
Rev 22:19 “And if anyone takes words away from this
book of prophecy, God will take away from him his
share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are
described in this book.”
It's possible to lose your spiritual rewards.
Matthew 6:1 “Be careful not to do your acts of
righteousness before men to be seen by them. If you
do, you will have no reward from your Father in
heaven.”
It's possible to lose the joy of your salvation.
Psalm 51:12 “Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”
It's possible to have the Holy Spirit depart from you.

the error of his way will save him from death and
cover over a multitude of sins.”
It's possible to lose your salvation.
2 Peter 2:20 “If they have escaped the corruption
of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome
beginning.”
Mark 4:16 “Others like seed sown on rocky places,
hear the Word and at once receive it with joy. But
since they have no root they last only a short time.
When trouble or persecution comes because of the
Word they quickly fall away.”
Gal 5:4 “You who are trying to be justified by law
have been alienated from Christ; you haven fallen
away from grace.”
Matt 10:22 “All men will hate you because of me,

To really enjoy our Christian walk, each of us must have and develop a “Kingdom Vision.”
What is a Kingdom Vision? A Kingdom Vision is a preferred future or a desired future in the kingdom now and later in heaven. This vision is bigger than self. It's bigger than our imagination or even our faith sometimes. This vision does not come from man, but it comes from God.
Yes, a Kingdom Vision is God given, God powered, God blessed, and has a God purpose. When my will and God's spirit (the Holy Spirit) work as one in my life, then this experience is possible. We begin to see the big picture and see things not from the human view point, but as God would see them.
David had a Kingdom Vision to build God's temple in Jerusalem. He had the vision and the provision. But it was not through himself but his son to accomplish. Solomon would fulfill and complete his father's vision.
A Kingdom Vision may not be for you to fulfill but God may birth it in you to pass on to someone else. All visions are birthed in someone who will have the passion to do the Will of the Father. Some take years to fulfill and others quicker, but they are to bring glory to God.
Moses received a Kingdom Vision at the burning bush in the desert. Little did he know it was a 40 year assignment that would test him in so many ways. God said to Moses, “I have heard the cries of my people and have seen their misery.” “So now go, I am sending you.” And of course Moses began to protest and claim how he was unprepared and too weak for the job. But, God assured him that he would “be with him.”
You see the vision was bigger and beyond Moses' ability. But with God, “all things are possible.” When God calls or gives the vision, He has already worked out the details. It was Moses' obligation to obey and follow God's commands. It was God's obligation to supply and protect, and He did.
God gave Saul, later to be called Paul, a Kingdom Vision for the Gentiles. Paul was transformed from a destroyer to a builder, from the enemy to an ambassador, and from a persecutor to a preacher of Jesus Christ. The vision was for a kingdom that would that would never fade or perish. A kingdom that would out-live the Roman Empire and be greater than any kingdom ever on earth.
Does God give “Kingdom Vision” to His people today? Yes! Day in and day out God is calling people in visible darkness to become light. Calling people to come out of the evil clutches of satan to the welcome safety of Jesus Christ.
Churches and ministries are being birthed in the hearts and minds of Christians again and again. God gives “Kingdom Vision” to those like David, Moses, or Paul who will see it thru till the end. They were finders not just starters. We in the church today need more finishers, not just starters. Ideas come from men and women, but Kingdom Vision comes from God.
Has God given you a vision for your life, family, or your church? Will you answer God's call today? What is God wanting to do in your life for the Kingdom? This may be your time, this may be your opportunity. Will you answer the call?
See ya in church,
Bud
Do you remember where you were and what you were doing when God called you? I mean when you finally heard the call of God on your life. God maybe was calling you a long time but now you really, clearly heard God calling you.
The Bible teaches us we were called out of darkness, and how true that is. Each of us had our own area of darkness to come out of. To some, it was easy, to others coming out of darkness was a slow process. For a while it was one step ahead and two backward. But, you kept trusting God and kept fighting the world of darkness that kept you in bondage. The darkness is the world. The world of evil and selfishness.
Only the power of God can have enough power to set us free from the power of darkness. The gripping grip of greed and fear holds us in bondage. The world is a slave master that holds us in bondage. The world is a slave master that uses the appetite of the flesh against us. But, God's power is great. Our God is stronger that the god of this world.
Your calling is a call to come to Christ and die to self. This call is a life time call regardless of times or places. We are called to Christ for Christ, and to receive an inheritance in Christ's kingdom. The call is to us but also thru us to a lost and dying world.
Your calling is to become a part of the body of Christ, the Church. We are privileged to be included in the Bride of Christ. We are called to be loyal to His body and be good steward. Christ's body is the example and demonstration of God's forgiveness. We are sinners saved by grace who have found our place in life. Our place in the kingdom. Our place in history. Our place in God's plan for redeeming man. Your call was not cheap or without purpose.
You were called to holiness. God gives us the Holy Spirit so we can partake of the divine natures. Listen to the words of 1 Peter 1:13.
“Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But, just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy”
The he goes on to say: 1 Peter 1:17
“Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear.”
Our call is to Holiness and to be ambassadors for Christ. The born-again experience is to begin life over to live differently under God's authority and God's control. Because of God's grace, He sent His Son to die on the cross so that we could be saved. Our call was not cheap but has great value to our souls.
Praise God we were called, sanctified, and set free. We have come a long way from darkness, but remember we are not home yet.
See ya in church,
Bud
IT COULD BE TOO LATE ALREADY
Before God can take you into something, He must bring you out of something. Before this can happen, there must be a mind change which will change our habits.
For forty years I have been in Christ's church. During these years I have watched and learned. Things happen to all people. Some things are blessings and some are not. But, everyone, Christian or not, go through experiences both good and bad.
As Christians, we are taught to trust God in all things. We don't always do that. We, like the world, some times play the victim role. We look to the flesh and to the spirit. Our faith and trust level goes to zero, and we lose sight of any possible victory in Jesus Christ. Now we are defeated, discouraged, and can be destroyed spiritually.
The world around us plays the victim role too. When individuals refuse to take responsibility for their actions, this is predictable. It's always someone else's fault. We become dysfunctional by choice. The devil continues to win battle after battle because of the weakness of the flesh, that is in the sinful nature of man.
But, we Christians are to be victorious. What is going wrong in the spiritual world? What has happened to the power and authority of Christ's church. Where are the victories and people who live above sin; the people who are role models of a life of Christ here on earth?
The church has become weak because we are trying to win the world, by becoming like the world. The church today is producing cheap grace and people who trust the world, it's programs and techniques, more than God. The church will continue to be weak and fail until we return to the authority and power of God. It's a matter of trust and obedience. We believe in God but don't believe God or fear God.
Churches today are building large buildings and followings on popularity and materialism. Success is the message, instead of the cry of the cross. The Word of God is being watered down so that no one is offended. It doesn't matter what you believe, just believe. American brand of Christianity must be a joke in God's eyes. No w0nder we, as a nation are suffering great destructive events in our country.
Read the Old Testament and see what God did or allowed when His people became worldly and idol worshipers. He would not allow it then and He won't allow it now. Our future as a nation is predictable and it is not pretty. We, like other great nations of the past, have turned our backs on God and will reap a harvest soon.
Before God could bring us into a life of peace and joy, America must come out of her idolatry need for materialism and ungodliness. Revival and repentance will bring us out of the devil's clutches. Nothing short of an all-out revival will do. Remember, the good will perish and suffer with the bad.
Every church in every city must call out to God for revival. No other method has a chance. Liberalism and false teachers have been sowing their seeds of destruction for the last 50 years. A nation without the true God has no hope.
It's time to stand up and be counted. The lost will stay lost and the saved are fading fast. Think on these things.
See ya in church,
Bud
When you come to the end of the road
It doesn't matter which horse you rode
It's not what you did, but what you left behind
Were you loving, forgiving and kind
Your life and mine will end someday
Jesus died for our sins, did pay
But what did you leave for those behind
Memories and blessing, your personal kind
Some people live and don't prepare to die
Why they are so stubborn, don't ask me why
They live for self and no one else you see
They leave behind only bad memories
So look to the future, my dear friend
This life on earth will surely end
Then you must face the Master face to face
He will decide if heaven or hell is your place
So live each day as it were your last
The problem of this day too will pass
Love and enjoy your family and friends
Make sure all are saved,
So you can be together again
Here my friend, is the rest of the story
Your life in Christ, the promise of glory
This earth will cease, and the dead will rise
To live with Christ is the final prize
Bud Yoder
The storm that struck American soil in the south land has left its mark of death and destruction. The force of wind and water, no one can withstand. Our country will be years cleaning up and overcoming this disaster.
These are the times that brings the best out of most people, and the bad out of some. The shooters and looters are not the normal. Evil and hunger will always be with us, but the righteous will overcome.
Many now are playing the blame game or the race game. But this is not the time to listen to negative news or people who have an agenda. We are human beings with means and must rally to the cause.
It is our duty as Christians and Americans, now, to do everything in our power to help those in need to re-establish lives. Homes, businesses, churches, cities and towns must be rebuilt. These people who have suffered and continue to suffer need help and hope.
Now is the time for the Church and Christians to be the true salt and light. God has called us to a lost and dying world to make a difference. We can do something and will do something!
This church has always been very heavily involved in helping others. Now we can help in our own country. Hope Missions stands for: Helping-Other-People-Everywhere. That is our motto, that is our mission. We dare not fail this one. This may well be an on going mission and our greatest challenge.
We are looking for ways to help now. Money is needed by the Red Cross or other groups who are giving food, water, and shelter. You can help in this way.
Also, we are making contacts with groups like The Mennonite Disaster Service to partner with them later to help clean up or whatever is needed. These are good organizations that have been doing disaster work for years. There are others also.
This year may be your opportunity to go on a mission trip here in America. In a few months thousands of Americans will rally to this need. There will be work for months and even years.
We feel, in missions, that God is calling us to help. Begin praying today for God to show you your part in rebuilding America. Help is needed in building churches and homes and just cleaning up. This may be a time for you to step out of your comfort zone and say “Here am I, send me.”
We will keep you updated on mission projects in the future. Let's prepare now so when the door opens we will be ready.
This will be a good time to witness and make a difference. Some can go and others who can't go can still support and help those who can. Remember, we as a church have an obligation to our fellow man.
Pray and prepare today.
See ya in church,
Bud
