Student Ministry

This is a great time to be a teen! Technology is making it easier than ever to communicate – but also easier than ever to be isolated from others because we don’t have to communicate face to face. Our purpose in Student Ministry is to help students become fully devoted Christ-followers. We strive to accomplish this through what we call the Four Pillars of Student Ministry

  1. The Word. We believe that the Word of God is active and alive. It accomplishes what it was sent out to do, it has the power to lead us to salvation and keep us from sin and destruction. Therefore, we not only have Bible Studies, but use material that helps students learn how to study the Bible and understand it’s priceless truths.
  2. Fellowship. It is essential to develop Godly friendships and relationships, to build one another up, to bear one another’s burdens, and to encourage one another as we follow Christ. We have multiple fellowship activities throughout the year which allow us to have a great time together and develop these friendships.
  3. Service. God has gifted us and enabled us to make a difference in other people’s lives. We can choose to be selfish or selfless. Our desire is to help students know and use their gifts and abilities to serve others. We have multiple opportunities for students to serve others and make a difference.
  4. Outreach. It is not enough to enjoy what God has given and keep it to ourselves. We must share it with others! Several times a year we have special events where we encourage students to be intentional and invite friends to have a good time and get to know us.

Wednesday Night – DASH (6-12th grades)

Every Wednesday Night is youth night at CCCS! We are either studying some scriptures together, taking a ride on the paddleboat Hiawatha, going to a corn maze, making a difference by serving someone, or some other exciting outing. Wednesday nights usually begin at 6:30pm and end at 8:00pm and are in the Church basement. However, some activities have special times so check out the Student Ministry Calendar to see what’s coming up.

Feel free to come early and hang out or shoot some basketball in the gym!

Sunday Mornings

Sunday mornings are a great time for students to get involved and make a difference by serving. Students can help in a variety of different ways: nursery, worship team, Noah’s ark helpers, Jumpstart helpers, FamJam (character, sound tech, singer, dancer, greeter). Ask Mark where you can help!

Girl’s Bible Study

Monday Nights from 6:30-8pm at the church girls 6th-12th grades can come for Bible Study led by Kim Karaffa, Beth Getgen, and Becky Yoder.  There will be times of fellowship, but the focus will be on learning to study God’s Word and apply it to our lives.

Summer Mission Trip

Each summer, the Student Ministry takes a mission trip either far away or close by to serve the Lord by serving people.  Last summer, at the end of July beginning of August 2010, students traveled to Diamond Willow Ministries in South Dakota to serve with the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation where we helped minister to kids on the reservation.  It was a great trip where our students grew tremendously and we shares the love of Jesus Christ in word and deed with the young people there.  You can learn more information about the ministry at their website: http://www.d-w-m.org .  Plans have not been finalized for Summer 2011, so check back for details and when applications will be available!
